Sheathing notching detail. Notice that the notches are 16" O.C. except at the ends of the wall. Those end notched are also deeper. The notches allow the rafters to be seated and helps seat the roof.

On pages later in the plans you'll see details on making boxed eaves, which are admittedly overkill if you were to also notch the siding. Both seal the roof so doing both may be redundant.

As an option you could either skip the boxed eave, or skip the notched exterior sheathing shown on this page. If you were to skip these notches you could simply cut the plywood off at the top of the wall.

Roof sheathing detail. An attempt is made to always have plywood ends meet on a rafter. An effort was made to reduce cutting plywood, but on a roof this small there's pretty much nothing for it.
