1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of cream 3 7/8" x 3 7/8"squares. With right sides together, layer a cream and sage 3 7/8" x 3 7/8" square. Sew 1/4" on both sides of the drawn line.Cut apart on the drawn line. Open and press toward the sage fabric.Repeattoform48half-squaretriangles(31/2",finishedsize3").

2. Sew 4 cream 3 1/2" squares, 4 cream 3 7/8" triangles, 2 black 6 7/8" triangles and 6 triangle-squares together as shown to form the block sections. Sew the sections together. Repeat to make 4 blocks.

3. In the same way, sew 3 beige 3 1/2" squares, 1 midnight 3 1/2" square, 4 beige 3 7/8" triangles, 2 black 6 7/8" triangles and 6 triangle-squares together as shown below to make 4 blocks.

4. Sew a midnight and cream strip together to make a strip set. Make 12. Cut the strips sets at 1 3/4" increments to make 256 segments. Sew 2 segments together to make a Four Patch. Make 128 total.

5. Sew 4 cream 3" x 7 1/2" rectangles, 4 cream 2 1/2" x 3" rectangles, 1 midnight 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square and 8 Four Patches together to make a block as shown below. Repeat to make 16 blocks.

6. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of cream 4 7/8" x 4 7/8" squares. With right sides together, layer a cream and sage 4 7/8" x 4 7/8" square. Sew 1/4" on both sides of the drawn line. Cut apart on the drawn line. Open and press toward the sage fabric to form 48 half-square triangles (4 1/2", 4" finished).

7. Sew 2 cream 4 1/2" squares, 3 black 4 1/2" squares and 4 triangle-squares together to make a block as shown below. Make 12 blocks.

8. Arrange the blocks in 6 rows as shown. Sew the blocks into rows. Sew the rows together.

9. Layer and baste the backing, batting and quilt top.

10. Quilt as desired. Bind the quilt with butterfy garden.
