French Comics Thibault Thibault Patrice Slide 2 Tin The idea for the comic strip: The Adventures of TinTin was first drummed up in 1929, however the first issue didnt go into circulation in 1946. From bellbottoms and peace pins to his signature knickers to other ethnocentric politically correct looks Tintin was ever-changing with the times and cultures. A young reporter, TinTin and his faithful dog Snowy. The show often includes slapstick humor and sophisticated satire making it an instant classic. The creator Georges Rmi a.k.a Herg injected his own brand of humor. The intentional humorous predictability is reminiscent to that of the 1900s Peanuts comic strip. Although to a lesser extent, Tintin's slapstick has some similarities to the 20th century comedy, The Three Stooges. Personally, I believe the TinTin resembles the 1985 American comic Calvin and Hobbes. The similarities of the adventurous theme, the relationship of the TinTin and Snowy are uncanny. Slide 3 Tin I take considerable pride in my dramatic renderings; Tintin, I imagine, speaks in a youthful tenor, with neutral accents. His rough-hewn friend, drunken old Captain Haddock, is so gruff and emphatic as to be laughable; he is laughable, and must be so. Although English, his accent is also neutral. Professor Calculus likewise lacks accent, I think, but speaks in a high, clipped voice, with a naive precision. The two Thompsons, twin detectives, are as English as Haddock, but absolutely must have the thickest of Cockney accents, as surely as they must always wear their bowler hats and carry their walking sticks. Such are a few of my ideas about characterization. ~ Tintins creator Slide 4 Blake et Mortimer Belgian writer and comic artist Edgar P. Jacobs created the comic series Blake and Mortimer in 1946. Blake and Mortimer follows the adventures of Philip Mortimer, a leading British scientist, and his friend Captain Francis Blake in their debacles with their sworn enemy, Colonel Olrik, who appears in all but one of the books. This stark rivalry between protagonist and antagonist resembles that of Batman - the most notorious of rivalries (Batman & Joker). The theme of adventure with all things considered places a strong relation to The Legend of Zelda series. A television series of the same name based on the comic was produced in 1997. The series became an undeniable best seller appearing in the Tintin magazine in 1946 and you can even see murals of the series characters are featured in murals around Belgium. Slide 5 Slide 6 Lucky Luke Lucky Luke struggled with critics who claimed the villains and characters perpetuate stereotypes comparable to what has been seen in many mainstream American comics. Most Comics Have emerged from the pen of David Kunzle.Rodolphe Topffer was one of the first comics ever created in the French nationality.Comics were David Kunzle life he loved history and he loved drawing.Daivd Kunzle felt as though this brought out his interests and exposed his opinion of what occured in the past.Most People love the comic because it brings back memories and how they used to live.Also the comic can be educational. The Comic Rodolphe Topffer it was not only a comic, it blasted of as a cartoon on tv and most people loved it. The cartoon was made after the comics.This Comic was not told to include great art but great meanings most of David Kunzle art was self- proclaimed as chicken scratch But the thing that he wanted was meaning. Slide 8 Asterix This is a very famous comic it can be translated in over 100 languges it is one of the most top selling comics everThis is most famous in French Speaking countries in Eroupe. Asterix is a comic series. There is a story to be told it is told in order the comic setting takes place in a village with tons of charters most of them have superhuman powers.This comic is one of the most famous Franco- Belgian comic in the world.These comics have been films. There were 34 volumes of this comic with great adventures throughout all of them. Most french people love this comic because of the laughter that is involed with it t used pun jokes also tonge and cheek sterotypes.Many comics travel to other counties and this comic is very adventures. This comic is mostly humorous. Slide 9 Yoko Tsuno This Is a comic in which orginated in Belgium In The 1970's. The Writer is Roger Leloup published by Dupius.This Comic is a series of comics there s a 24 volume set.This Comics Discribe the adventures of a Japenese origan woman that is an engineer. She travels around the world like Gremany Japan Scotland and Hong Kong with her best friends Pol and Vic.This comic is all about technology they have robots and time travel.It is heavily animated.Some Settings in this comic are in outter space.
