Apples & Pears

Avocados

Asparagus

Bell Peppers

Berries

Broccoli & Cauliflower

The apple market is steady with moderate demand and good quality. Pears have good quality and availability out of the Washington and Offshore markets.

Mexico supplies continue and the pipeline begins to fill up. Lower yields continue on large sized fruit out of MX. California continues with steady volume. Quality is good. Markets are slightly higher.

Weather improves out of mainland Mexico and California increasing supplies. Overall quality is good and markets are steady.

Green bell supplies are beginningto wind down out of MX as we approach the end of their growing season and we begin totransition into Coachella. Qualityremains good. Red and Yellow bells volume is steady out of mainland MX. California should begin harvest mid April on greenbells followed by reds and yellows.

Broccoli supplies are slowly decreasing as they enter the seasonal supply gap. The market has already firmed up and looks to increase into next week. The quality of broccoli has been really nice in Salinas as well in Santa Maria. We have seen minimal yellowing, normal crown size and little dehydration

Cauliflower supplies remain abundant. This has kept the market competitive. Overall quality is really nice with weights in the 25 to 28 pound range, little yellowing or bruising / brown spotting.

Strawberry Supply will continue to be light to moderate over the next few weeks as part of the aftermath of recent rain in Oxnardand Santa Maria growing areas. Quality is still fair at best as a result of the recent weather conditions.

Blueberries, blackberries and raspberries All three remain steady in available volume and quality has been fair to good.

40 & 50ct potatoes are a little limited with the Burbank’s peaking on 80ct and smaller. Quality is good. Colored potatoes are readily available with good quality on all sizes and colors out of all shipping points.

Supplies are plentiful on zucchini and yellow squash out of MX and Coachella. Markets have come off. Quality is good.

Tomato supplies out of Mexico are plentiful as fields hit peak production. Prices are steady and quality remains good. Volume on Vine ripes out of mainland MX are plentiful. Roma supplies increase causing markets to come off. Supplies on grape & cherry tomatoes are steady. Quality is good. Markets are steady.

Lemons: The Central Valley crop is in full production and sizing is large, peaking 95s/115s/140s. Ventura crop continues with good production. This region remains peaking on 140s and smaller fruit.

Oranges: We are seeing peak sizing of 56s/72s/88s. Percentage of 113s/138s continue to fall off in pack outs. The market remains active on 113s/138s both grades. Larger sizes are peaking for the balance of the navel season. Small fruit will be in short supply all season.

Iceberg Lettuce: Salinas will have production on this commodity by the end of the week. The product is tired. Demand is moderate. Santa Maria continues to have some availability. The defects that have been reported upon arrival include mechanical, puffiness and some discoloration. Weights are averaging 42-46 pounds. Shippers are listening for offers for volume type orders.

Leaf Lettuce: Romaine as well as green and red leaf is active. Salinas has moderate to light production to start the season. Romaine hearts continue to be on escalated pricing. The quality has picked up dramatically compared to last week. We are seeing less blister and peel is less seen. Insect damage and ribbing is seen on all leaf items, including romaine. The quality should be stronger next week as new fields will be harvested. Salinas production is stronger compared to last week. Santa Maria will have light availability for the week.
