Fresh Heaven MAXX product line

The Fresh Heaven MAXX (FHM) product line represents a new generation of Fresh Heaven units for pressurized low-turbulence fields that combines full filtration with the operating mode for local air recirculation.

It is intended for clean rooms with the highest requirements for uniform vertical air flow in the pharmaceutical industry, in aseptic operating theatres and similar areas of appli-cation.

The unit is available as:– Basic (“passive”) FHM version: Fresh Heaven MAXX– Power (“active”) version with fans operating in recirculating-air mode:

Principle of operation Fresh Heaven MAXX (FHM)

Treated fresh air (from an air handling unit) or return air from the room is driven into a pressure chamber that is fitted with HEPA filters which are installed horizontally across the entire area of the pressurized field (fitted via clamps to a sealed stainless steel welded frame).After passing through the HEPA filters the cleaned air is pushed through outlets along individually arranged lighting to create a protection zone around a product or a patient. Afterwards, con-taminated air is extracted from the room into a central air hand-ling unit or supplied via the power module. The height of the FHM unit is 450 mm. The dimensions are determined according to the requirements of the facility system designer. A large-size unit is divided into sections which are supplied separately and connected together on site. The joints are designed to minimize their effect on the quality of la-minar air flow and should be determined during the planning stage.

Principle of operation Fresh Heaven MAXX POWER (FHM P)

A Fresh Heaven MAXX unit is equipped with the Power module, fan(s) for air recirculation and a pre-filter. The maximum size of the unit is limited by the volumetric flow rate of 12,000 m3/h, which at the average outlet speed of 0.45 m/s corresponds to the laminar air flow field area of appro-ximately 7.4 m2.If a water-based coil is added to the suction chamber, the maximum volumetric flow rate is reduced to approximately 8,000 m3/h, which at the average outlet speed of 0.45 m/s corresponds to the laminar air flow field area of approximately 4.9 m2.

Fresh Heaven MAXX for operating theatres (FHM O)

A special design version for operating theatres. The basic version consists of two sepa-rate sections. The air supply connections are located on the opposite sides of the casing. After assembly, space is provided in the centre of the unit to enable installation of surgical lighting. Having passed through the HEPA filters air is made more uniform by passing through a single-layer polyester laminarizer stretched across an aluminium frame. The circumference of the laminarizer is lit from above by LED lighting integrated into the sides of the casing. A PVC curtain with an optional media bridge for supply con-nections may be installed around the unit. The mean outlet air speed is 0.24 m/s.

Fresh Heaven MAXX POWER U (FHM PU)

Fresh Heaven MAXX POWER U is designed for installion into false ceilings (a horizon-tal suction grille mounted flush with the false ceiling).

Air intake is performed via a perforated metal-sheet grille and a pre-filter and pushed by a fan into the pressurized chamber above HEPA filters. Filtered clean air is supplied downwards along lights through outlets.

The suction chamber is separated from the laminar air flow field by a PVC curtain.

FHM PDC is equipped with fans installed in pairs above each other to increase the length of the laminar air flow field. The maximum size of the unit is limited by the volu-metric flow rate of approximately 8,000 m3/h (two pairs of fans), which at the average outlet speed of 0.45 m/s corresponds to the laminar air flow field area of approximately 4.9 m2.

The minimum width of the module here is 1.25 m and the maximum length of the lami-nar air flow field La can approximately reach 4 metres.

Valve assembly

– The valve assembly consists of a three-way mixing valve with an actuator, a circu-lation pump and a balancing valve. Measurements are taken by a dew-point sensor, an inlet air thermometer, a condensation sensor and a room thermostat (not included).

Cooling coil

– pipes and fins are made of copper, the casing is made of stainless steel. – coil is designed on the basis of parameters provided by the customer (e.g. tempe-

rature and humidity of outlet air and heat load). The design calculation of the coil is included in the documentation.

– coil is operated in condensation-free mode. If the valve assembly is included, this function is provided by the software of the unit´s control module; if the valve assem-bly is not ordered, the measuring and control components must be provided by the customer.

Air speed sensor

– speed sensor for outlet air equipped with a stainless steel bracket for mounting on a partition wall.

Dwyer Photohelic manometer

Dimensions and tolerances

Consider manufacturing and assembly tolerances when designing the dimensions of the FHM field (theoretical tolerance of 5 mm is recommended). The picture shows a sample unit connected to a suspended false ceiling (KS false ceiling profile) and R panel (the joint is covered by a R30-radius profile).

The maximum size of the unit is limited by structural, manufacturing and transport opti-ons and is determined upon agreement between the manufacturer, designer and end user. Large-size fields include more components with emphasis placed on minimizing the effect of joints between different parts and ensuring uniform air flow (see the cross section).

The casing is suspended on M8 threaded rods using suspension lugs located outside the unit (access to the outer sides of the unit must be provided). The rod is screwed into a riveting nut located on the suspension lug and secured by an M8 nut. To set a horizontal position we recommend using specially-provided anchors. The project designer determi-nes the type of material used for anchoring the unit to the ceiling. For detailed instructions on mounting contact your relevant sales office.

Space for valve assembly

When designing FHM PowerU Cool and PowerS Cool units, ensure enough space for the valve assembly. Consult the manufacturer for the location of these components and the required piping.

Several units (installed next to each other) can be supplied from a single valve assem-bly (each coil must have its own balancing valve). We recommend using special wall panels equipped with ducts for piping; the valve assembly can be mounted in a wall-panel compartment (access through an inspection door).

Switch box

When designing FHM and FHM PowerU units consider the required access to the switch box mounted on the unit side (e.g. provide an inspection tile in the false ceiling – make sure to avoid contact with other lines, pipework and components). Consult the distributor for the location.

Panel heightIf a partition wall is connected to FHM, such panels should not project more than 30 mm into the bottom edge of the laminar module (due to risk of damage by contacting piping or by-pass).
