Portaluppi in the 1930's, their luminous villa

has Deco furniture, walnut floors and a plant-filled

conservatory. Bedrooms have walk-in wardrobes, giant

windows and marble bathrooms. Downstairs, there's a

game room and a well-stocked library.

With its cosmopolitan, Deco inspiration, the villa forms

the perfect backdrop for the latest collection from

Frette. Fabrics have thirties floral prints, interlocking

circles or textured hexagons. Colours conjure

memories: gunshot silver, antique rose, royal blue,

garden green and old gold.

Two sisters, the daughters of cultured industrialists,

live in a light-filled villa amid a green garden in

central Milan. One of them is married to a debonair

entrepreneur, who shares their enchanted life.

Natural beauties, the sisters' wardrobes are filled with

clothes by Chanel and Dior. They collect furniture and

artworks by painters from Fontana to Magritte. They

play tennis in the garden, and throw parties around

the outdoor pool – for guests including members of the

Spanish and Savoy royal families.

This is the true story of Nedda and Gigina Necchi, and

Gigina's husband, Angelo Campiglio, who lived at the

Villa Necchi-Campiglio in the mid part of the twentieth
