Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
It has been exciting two weeks at Ludmilla Primary, listening to speeches and students voting for School
Captains, Sports Captains and the Student Leadership Council. I congratulate all candidates for the
exceptional job they did in delivering their speeches and upholding the Ludmilla Way at all times. I am
very pleased to announce the successful candidates for 2021.

“Together we can achieve anything”
Over the last two weeks the teachers as well as the children have been engaged in learning about maths. Five of our teachers
visited other schools across Darwin last week to engage with Professional Learning around Meaningful Maths our numeracy
program. Today those same teachers will be visiting classrooms across Darwin to observe a maths lesson using the program.
Deepening our teacher’s knowledge and skills in numeracy means that they will be able to confidently support every child to do
their best across the school.
Kids as Teachers night was a great success. It was wonderful to see so many families at this popular event. The students were
the stars of the show, confidently demonstrating, guiding and taking their families through some of the lessons that they
engage with in class and across the school. Flipping the classroom is a regular event at Ludmilla Primary and our students are
very confident moving between learner and teacher as needed each day at school.
All families are reminded that if your child has a cough, sore throat or feel sick that they are to remain at home. The school
is still expected to follow our Covid 19 health plan at all times.
Also a reminder to parents that if you need to talk to your child’s teacher and it is class time. Please see the front office to
organise a time when they are not teaching to do this.
Kind Regards
Carol Putica

Greeting from the Kitchen Garden
The front office has bags of dried fruit for $3 or $4 with a mixture of fruits. These make great gifts and are perfect to
send in the mail since they are lightweight. There is also still frozen red bush apple for $4 a bag.
We are always looking for donations of:
maple syrup bottles to sell our upcoming rosella cordial in
Coffee grounds …sooo good for the garden
Banana peels
Shredded paper
Colanders and wire strainers to cover our seedlings with to keep away hungry possums.
VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
I can usually be found in the Ludmilla Vegetable Garden on Saturday mornings between 10 and 12. If you have an hour to
spare it would be lovely to see you here. We are in the process of
moving 2 mountains of mulch over to our fruit trees and doing battle
with the weeds before our seedlings go in.
Parents are also welcome to participate in the cooking classes. You can
share a family favourite with the class!
Please email me [email protected] if you are interested.
