These devices are multi touch (up to 10 touch points) allowing greater collaboration, group work, engagement and interaction amongst our students. Children today are living in a digital world. The interactive televisions provide our teachers with the means to present and deliver lessons with greater purpose and relevance to children's' everyday lives. Of course, this has only been made possible through the fundraising efforts of our school community. Thanks for your ongoing support. First Aid Reporting In the coming weeks we will be trialing the recording of first aid incidents via Compass. Any student who visits the sick bay will have their injury/illness recorded under their Compass ID. Parents and carers will be able to review the details under the Chronicle section. 2019 Parent Payments Thank you to all the parents who have already completed their 2018 and 2019 parent payments, or submitted their 2019 payment plans. Your assistance in this area enables us to order all the materials and curriculum resources we need to ensure a smooth start to the school year for our students. If you haven’t completed your payments or submitted your payment plans, please do as soon as possible. If you need any further supports or have any enquiries, please feel free to come in and have a chat. Family Statements will be emailed out within the coming week. Student Information To assist us with accuracy of our student information data, we ask parents to check details on Compass and update any changes if applicable. If you are unable to update any information, please let us know and we will update it for you. Information includes but not limited to residential address, postal address, phone numbers, workplace, occupation, email address, medical conditions and emergency contacts. We appreciate your assistance in helping us to ensure the safety of your children through correct record management. Students Absent from School A reminder to parents of arrangements for children absent from school:

Please ring the school between 8.15am and 8.45am to advise that your child will be absent on 54395476 . Absences can also be submitted via the Compass Parental Portal.

Parents of children absent without notification will be contacted by phone, or a note sent home to verify their child ’s absence from school on that day.

If parents know in advance of a child’s absence from school on a particular day/s, then notification prior to the absence will suffice. Late Arrivals and Punctuality If your child does arrive late we ask that you come via the office to inform us and obtain a Late Arrival pass. This is necessary as class rolls are marked by 9am and if your child is not in class at this time they will be marked as absent. By notifying the office we are able to adjust our records so your child is then marked as late rather than absent. Medical information In order to provide a safe and secure school environment, it is very important for you, as parents or guardians, to inform the school of any medical issues relating to your child, or children, that you feel we should know about. Thank you to those who have already done so. If there are any changes, or new medical conditions arise throughout the year, the school should be informed. On occasions it is necessary for children to take medication while they are at school. If your child requires medication to be administered during school hours, a signed medication request form needs to accompany the medicine, and this medicine is to be left at the office. CSEF Thank you to all our families who either have made payment or have set up a payment plan at the office for our 2019 Parent Payment Summaries. Copies of family statements will be emailed out in the coming weeks If you believe you maybe eligible for the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) and have not yet submitted your 2019 application, please contact the office. The CSEF is an annual payment of $125.00 to the school to be used towards Camps, Sports and/or Excursion expenses for the benefit of eligible students. Criteria: To be eligible for the funding, a parent or legal guardian of a student must:

On the first day of Term 1, OR;

On the first day of Term 2 be an eligible beneficiary within the meaning of the State Concessions Act 2014, that is, be a holder of Veterans Affairs Gold Card or be an eligible Centrelink Health Care Card (HCC) or Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) holder, OR

Wakakirri is coming to Strathfieldsaye Primary School This year the grade 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to be involved in Wakakirri. This is a purely optional program for interested students. The Wakakirri Primary School Challenge is the national search for the best Story Dance created by Australian Schools. We will be performing at Ulumbarra on the evening of the 19th August. Please place this date in your Calendars For those students who have been selected to be part of this performance, a fee of $20 is to be paid to the office or by direct debit details below: Strathfieldsaye Primary School BSB: 063506 Account Number 10113475. Please make sure your CHILDS name is used as a reference. If you have any questions regarding Wakakirri please don't hesitate to ask.

The Grade 5 students this year are getting involved with an important challenge that is raising awareness and money for cancer. The March Charge is a fun personal fitness challenge that has an enormous impact on how cancer is researched and treated. Just by walking or running for Cancer Council this March, and by raising funds, you can help us Charge ahead with cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support services. Students will have a choice of being with a partner or a small group to conquer the goal of walk-ing/running 50km in March. Students will be tracking their progress throughout the month and we will be using the data within our Maths lessons. In addition to this we will be having 5c Friday's where students can bring in and donate their 5cents pieces that will be collected and donate to our Strathfieldsaye Primary March Charge team.

In other news:

Flynn Castle represented the school at District Tennis competition and did a great good job although he didn’t get through to the next level he did the school proud.—Well Done Flynn!

A big thankyou to all of the students who applied for the SSV (School Sports Victoria) state teams last week, the school has happily placed forward 8 applicants, we wish them all the best throughout the year.
