PEAKS ISLAND LAND PRESERVE B & B (BIRDS & BEAVERS – THANKS PILP!) Let’s see what kind of birds we can identify this time of year. We have to get up bright and early while the birds are out looking for breakfast! We’ll go in search of ocean, marsh, forest, and fresh-water pond birds (baby ducks right now!) and all things that squawk! We’ll visit the active beaver colony, too. If it’s bad weather, we’ll go Sunday instead, same time. Wear SHOES (no sandals), long sleeves, and pants that can tuck into socks to avoid ticks (NO shorts). Bring binoculars & bugspray!

We’ll supply the kazoos & bangy things; you just need to hum and bang and strut all the way over to PIES (PI Elementary School) – just in time for the Pie Eating Contest!

PEAKSFEST MINI GOLF TOURNAMENT A 10 HOLE mini golf course on Peaks? YES indeed! If you haven’t already registered and got your golf pencil, map & scorecard, you still can, from 3:00-3:30 on the corner. But then you’ll need to MOVE along, because it’ll take time to putt-putt-putter around to all 10 holes. There is a GREAT prize for the BEST score (that’s why we need you to register!). BUT – don’t come to win, come to PLAY and have fun with your neighbors!

Play the holes in ANY ORDER (they range from PAR 1 to PAR 8) but you MUST have your host (at each hole) SIGN OFF on your score, and you MUST END at TEIA (that’s the 10th hole). Come and see what CRAZINESS your neighbors have cooked up for YOUR benefit! And VISIT as you putt; you’ll encounter some surprises, including REFRESHMENTS (wink wink) at most holes. One such surprise: Jody Halliday’s Wearable Art will hold an OPEN STUDIO at HOLE #1: Creative, textured fabrics made into coats, jackets, hats and bags.

Each hole will have its own clubs and balls, including kid clubs – so just bring yourself and your scorecard! Come play with us: it’s the FIRST, it’s FREE, and it’s FUN! Let’s make the PeaksFest inaugural Mini Golf Tournament something to talk about all year! FORE!
