With 1.5 million student profiles and 105,000 recruiters from 65,000 companies posting over 400,000 job opportunities to-date, it has transformed the recruiting experience for students, recruiters and career centers. “Handshake is the ultimate job-search and networking platform for OU students and alumni,” Barbas said. “It brings together students, alumni, employers, and Career Services like no other platform.” With Handshake, OU students can: * Browse their news feed and apply for career related jobs and internships; * Schedule an appointment; * Network and connect with employers; * Learn more about Career Services events; * Apply and attend on-campus interviews. “Handshake is incredibly easy to use,” Barbas said. “Students sign-in using their Oakland email address and SAIL credentials. At that point they can customize their profile with work experience, class experience, and more. We encourage students to utilize Handshake as their primary job-search platform. Once they upload their resume they can search for jobs and even apply for them.” Employers can also utilize Handshake to create and manage job postings; register for and track Career Services events; market recruitment and networking events; schedule and manage on-campus interviews; and stay connected with Oakland University students and alumni. “Employers contact us all the time looking to hire Oakland students and alumni,” Barbas said. “We always direct them to start with Handshake. Without a Handshake account, they can't reach our population with their job posts or by attending our recruiting events. If employers want to hire OU students and alumni, there is already a candidate pool ready for them on Handshake.” To learn more about Handshake, visit the Career Services website. “Handshake is part of Oakland University Career Services now,” Barbas said. “It is an integral part of working with our office.”
