Your Assignment!Part 1
We are going to raise frogs in our classroom!
You will learn about the life cycle of frogs from books and videos in the classroom.
You will observe and record information about their growth in a tadpole journal.
You will watch Mrs. Hurlburt’s presentation on Frogs (coming up!)
This will happen over about two months.
Your Assignment!Part 2
After we have finished observing and raising our frogs…
You will think about what you have learned from our study of frogs. Where the live, how they grow, what they eat, who eats them, what do they need to survive?
You will write down one or two important facts – do this in small groups with Mrs. Hurlburt
Your Assignment Part 3!
Let’s make our own MOVIE!! Mrs. Hurlburt will film you talking
about what you have learned. We will share the movie that
Mrs. Hurlburt puts together with our Buddies to teach them what we have learned about frogs.
We will have the movie ready for Open House so our families can see it too.

Frogs are AMPHIBIANS
They begin life breathing under the water with gills
And then change to become air breathing animals with lungs
This change is called METAMORPHASIS
What kind of frogs do we have in our classroom? Pacific Chorus Frogs/Pacific
Tree Frogs
The Pacific Chorus Frog is the only green or brown frog in our area with a dark "mask" across its eyes and "suction cups" on its toes.
Often called the Pacific Treefrog, it uses these toe pads to help climb plants, trees, even walls and windows!
HABITAT Where do Pacific Chorus frogs live?

Tadpoles eat algae and small bugs
Frogs eat slugs, spiders, & insects including beetles and ants
