Come September, it will be a year since I joined Bhatia Brothers, and, for sure I have relished every minute and so far every challenge of it thoroughly!

What has struck me most is the enormous potential of what can be done collectively in the Group, if only we can all pull together. One interesting fact…the human body has more than 600 muscles. If they all pulled in one direction, you could lift over 25 tons! Imagine what all of us can do collectively.

It is said that businesses today are at the crossroads of uncertainty. The speed of economic and technological changes means that the right path yesterday may not work today and could be a disaster by tomorrow. Solving these dynamic problems is what separates those who excel from the companies who are closing the doors. As the Chairman of Samsung once said ‘Change everything except your wife and kids’, we need to critically analyze our businesses, our performance, our management skills from all angles and redraw the map, the boundaries if so required, and keep doing it.

Central to this culture will be the ability in us to relevantly unlearn, learn and relearn. It becomes imperative upon each one of us to develop certain ‘must have’ skills to meet challenges with self-confidence and poise. To a large extent, there is no absolute ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way, as long as the objectives of profit (for sustenance of business), customer delight and employee satisfaction are met, with no compromise on traditional values of Fairness and Integrity.

Along with the lively teams and their dynamic leaders, We look forward to fresh assignments, newer responsibilities in the coming years. With the support and guidance of our CEO we are sure that this is just the beginning for reaching greater heights.

The Digital RevolutionToday, every organization whether big or small are turning towards the digital platform in order to grow, the smaller organization want to become a big one, and the bigger ones want to grow even bigger, well that’s just business, everyone likes to grow and make profits.

Communication is one of the essential requirements for the purpose of development. Going digital gives everybody a chance today to not

only communicate within their existing circles, but also to tap various other markets and people. And what’s marvelous about this medium is that, you get to choose the appropriate audience you want to reach out to via basic research tools available on the World Wide Web (WWW).

If you’re already a networker on the internet, you may be aware that your network is like a completely different world over there. With the growing number of devices via which we have access to the internet, there is constant communication going on, and people are making money on the move.

Setting up a website may seem to be one of the first few steps anybody would take to start building their presence on the WWW. However, as important it is to have a website, it’s equally important that you make yourself visible on the WWW. This process of making yourself visible on the internet to your target

market is what is termed as Online Marketing. There are various methods of marketing your brand over the internet. The most commonly used as well as the most effective are the ‘Social Media’ platforms.

We are all aware of what Facebook is in today’s date. From a mere networking site created by Mark Zuckerberg of Harvard University, it has now become one the world’s most visited website. Facebook today plays a major role in the development of a lot of small and large sized businesses, in terms of communication with their audience. Communicating over social media has become the way of life to such an extent that today, if a client want to speak with his agent, hitting him a message over Facebook is what would run through his mind first instead of doing the usual, i.e picking up the phone and calling them. People now more often look at their facebook profile for notifications instead of looking out for missed calls.

The world is going digital… Are you?

ReflectionsEach day my life in Bhatia Brothers is challenging with new things. Not a single day that passes by without a challenge or something new to do. I come to work at 8:00 am in the morning and the day starts off with replying to emails for the first one hour and then there is a sales meeting to set the agenda for the day and each sales person is aware of the activities they are supposed to be performing. The rest of the day is spent in client meetings and technical discussions with team and coordinating with production for deliveries.

Time is always of the essence and I feel Abu Dhabi is one such market where everything is very urgent and this sometimes helps us increase the profits. The brand names which I get to sell under the Bhatia brother’s umbrella are outstanding, like Crosby, Kiswire. Etc. The brands we carry help us to make the sales pitch as the customer needs us as much as we

with the team.

I have always believed that if we have an open mind like sponge without a “know it all attitude” we can learn and teach someone. Bhatia brothers has given me the freedom, the platform and always motivated me to perform better, the cooperation from finance team has also been very crucial for our growth and timely deliveries of materials to our clients. There are always difference of opinions at professional work life but then I feel that is what make us better individuals and helps us achieve a common goal for the company.

All these years I have been able to strike the perfect balance between work and family and I completely believe that this is due to the work culture here and of course the people with whom I work with. I am extremely happy to be part of this family and of course always willing to unfold and explore new experiences.

need them. The very fact that Bhatia brothers has been in this market for more than 6 decades makes the brand name visible to everyone. I have never been denied an appointment or my phone has been banged down by any buyer/purchaser, the moment we say we are from Bhatia brothers they do listen to our sales pitch and the brand we carry just makes it a cake walk to close the deal. We have grown from no stocks no equipment and no machinery to a level today where we have stocks and equipments worth millions.

When I joined Bhatia Brothers I had no knowledge or experience of lifting industry and my superiors have been very helpful and kind to train me appropriately. Each day has been learning and I am still learning. Must say initial trainings brought a good transition in me. The training modules which were set, the customer allocation done and the markets assigned to me were crystal clear. And now am trying to implement the same

Happiness is in GivingThis story is about a beautiful, rich, expensively dressed lady who complained to her doctor that, she felt, her whole life was empty and worthless, it had no meaning, after her husband passed away. She became all alone in the big house. All these German Cars, House, Expensive Furniture, French Cutlery, French Perfume, Persian Carpet, Imported Piano, all the Beethoven Collection, they all became, just useless objects to her. After a long thinking, she decided to do something about it. Then next question was, what to do now. So the lady went to visit a counselor to seek permanent and long-lasting happiness.

The counselor called over an old lady who cleaned the office floors. The counselor then said to the rich lady “I’m going to ask Mary here to tell you how she found happiness. All I want

you to do, is listen to her.”

So the old cleaning lady put down her broom and sat on a chair and told her story: “Well, my husband died of malaria and three months later my only son was killed in a car accident. I had nobody... I had nothing left. I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat, I never smiled at anyone.

Then one evening, a little kitten followed me home from work. Somehow I felt sorry for that kitten. It was cold outside, so I decided to let the kitten in. I got it some milk, and the kitten licked the plate clean. Then it purred and rubbed against my leg and for the first time, in months, I smiled.

Then I stopped to think, if helping a little kitten could make me smile, may be doing something for people could make me happier. So the next day I baked some biscuits and took them to a neighbor who was sick in bed. Every day I tried to do something nice for someone. It made me so happy to see

them happy. Today, I don’t know of anybody who sleeps and eats better than I do. I’ve found happiness, by giving it to others.”

When the rich lady heard that, she cried. She had everything that money could buy, but she had lost the things which money cannot buy.

The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are; it depends on how happy others can be because of you. Later that lady became a President of a Philanthropic Organization,in Dallas, Texas, where President John F. Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald, who in turn, was killed by another maniac, Jack Ruby. Now the lady is busy almost all twenty-four hours of the day, serving

people, finding eternal happiness”.

“Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. ”

Are you crazy busy or meaningfully productive?By: Jackie Woodside

Four Simple –But Not Easy– Steps to Mastering Productivity

People are quickly getting back into the swing of things as the summer fades into sweet, yet soon distant memories. Days are growing shorter, school is back in session, and the pace of life seems to pick up like a fast-flowing river.

Before you know it, you’ll get swept up in the no-time, washed-down cultural stream called “crazy busy.” Crazy busy has an energy all its own – a buzz and pull that everyone seems to feel – especially at this time of year. Busyness in our culture has reached epidemic proportions and I believe it is costing us dearly.

One of the chief causes of stress in our society results from people not doing what is important to them or what they value. Too often people feel as though they are simply running a rat race on a hamster wheel. They run and run, but they never feel like they accomplish anything. They are crazy busy, but not productive.

The characteristics of being busy can be described as disorganized, chaotic,

distressed, reactionary, scattered, and often anxious. Conversely, learning to embrace the principles of meaningful productivity lead one to be centered, ordered, clear, accomplished, optimized, and at ease. Two people can be doing the exact same job function, but if one is busy and the other is productive, there will be drastically different outcomes in both what is produced and experienced.

I teach a wide variety of approaches to shifting from busy to productive. Here are four principles and practices that can help you move from being crazy busy to being meaningfully productive in your everyday life.

#1: Practice the “Productivity Cycle.” Plan, prepare, debrief, and repeat. Yes, I know this may seem like four principles in one, but I teach these together so that people begin thinking of this productivity cycle as if it is a single step. First, you plan your tasks for the week and then prepare for the following day in advance. After that day is complete, you debrief to see what is left to be accomplished and what new tasks have emerged. And finally, you repeat the process again.

It takes practice, but soon, you will get into the habit of using these principles so that you begin each week and each day with your goals declared, your tasks scheduled, and your thoughts clear regarding your objectives.

#2: Align your actions with you goals. Far too often people end up doing busywork because it is so easy and mindless. The real work of moving toward your goals is challenging and

requires that you be mentally focused. It is all too common that people avoid the mental work in lieu of mindless work.

The key is to move from mindless busyness toward meaningful productivity. So start your day by determining what it is that will move you forward and give you a sense of feeling productive. Then schedule those things into your day so you know when you are doing to complete these tasks. Your sense of accomplishment will increase and you will be motivated to do more.

#3: Manage yourself, not your time. One hundred percent of the people who have taken my productivity courses and trainings admit to all kinds of self-defeating, non-productive activities. They lose hours surfing the web, engaging in mindless social media, playing video games, watching television or online videos, reading and responding to emails, and so on. You have to manage yourself in order to move into meaningful productivity. You can relax and celebrate after accomplishing a major task, but it’s important to plan your time accordingly and stick to the plan.

#4: Toss your “to-do” list. This comes as a total shock to most people, but to-do lists do not support your productivity. This is because none of the items on your list are grounded in time nor do you have a sense of how long it actually takes to get any of them done. Thus, you write down fifteen items, accomplish five, and feel like you’ve done something wrong. Lists set you up for failure while scheduling your life and following your schedule sets you up for meaningful productivity.

When you first begin planning your time this way, I strongly recommend determining how long you estimate an item will take, and then double it. Once you start tackling things in time, you will likely see that this is the appropriate amount of time to schedule.

Implementing these four principles will set you well on your way to a life of meaningful productivity. And you can say goodbye to crazy busy!
