Mission Statement: Guided by the power of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church will utilize our time, talent, and treasure through the roles of Priest, Prophet, and King to spread the Good News throughout our community and the world.
“PUSHED” OUT ON MISSION There is a delightful character in the original Dr. Dolittle Tales called the “Pushmi-Pullyu.” It is a beast with two identical halves, with a head at each end. No matter which direction the beast walks, one end is the “push me” and the other is the “pull you.” Today’s feast is a bit like that in the life of the church. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, it is the ascension of Christ that calls for the Holy Spirit, which consequently sends or “pushes” the church out on its mission. This is the message that we hear from the angels today as they tell the friends of Jesus not to look up into the clouds, but to get busy. It is the message of Jesus himself in Matthew’s Gospel, as he sends them out to baptize. He also tells them, “I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). And it is this message, confident in faith that Jesus has ascended to shouts of joy, that “pulls” us along to our final destiny. The life of the faithful disciple, sent into the world on mission, will one day know the same risen, ascended glory. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Summer Religion Update Due to Covid-19 and all the guidelines we must follow, we are very sorry but we will NOT be able to have Summer Religion as planned for the weeks of May 25-28 and June 1-4, 2020. We are looking at what options if any at all that might be possible for the children to attend religion classes. Please keep in mind that we as parents are the primary teachers for our children's religious education. Today with the internet there are many great catholic sites we can use as references to educate our children about their Catholic Faith. Catholic.org is a great website that gives numerous free resources to learn more about our rich catholic faith. FORMED.ORG is another wonderful FREE website. Sacred Heart pays a yearly subscription for ALL our parishioners to use it for FREE. To get into FORMED.ORG free, go to the website and in the top right corner click on sign up. It will then direct you to a page with 3 different options to choose from. Click on “I belong to a Parish or Organization”. You will then be directed to put in our church name/address which is: Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 2514 Old Jeanerette Road New Iberia, LA 70563. At that point you will create your own login by putting your name and email. Our phones and Ipads have great apps to teach us about the catholic faith. IBreviary, IRosary, IBible, and the IMissal are just a few of the wonderful apps you can download right from our finger tip. We will keep everyone posted when some type of official plan is in place. For up-to-date information pertaining to Sacred Heart follow us on Facebook at Sacred Heart Religious Education New Iberia or the website: www.sacredheartofjesusnewiberia.com You are all in our continued prayers during these trying times. Thanks to everyone who donated money toward Easter Flowers in memory of their loved ones. We are so sorry that we could not use the money for Easter flowers this year due to COVID-19. As soon as the full church is opened back up we will have flowers each week in memory of your loved ones. We collected $903.00 for Easter Flowers and will use this
money to brighten up the church. Thank you for helping to making Sacred Heart the wonderful church parish that it is.
