From regular sleeves to faux raglan sleeves In this tutorial I show you how you can turn regular set-in sleeves into faux raglan sleeves. They look like real raglan sleeves, but actually it’s only a clever colour block to simulate them. You can use this tutorial on any of your favourite patterns: a dress, top, sweater, T-shirt. As long as you start from regular sleeves, this tutorial will work. It’s a great way to combine fabrics and it gives the opportunity to add creative collars to the middle front part like I did on the Juliette dress (Sewpony patterns) below. The pattern pieces below are from the Louisa dress for girls by Compagnie M. You cut the front and back panel in two as shown below. Make sure that on both pattern pieces the distance from the armpit along the side seam is the same.

Nowbeforeyoufollowtheinstructionsoftheoriginalpattern,youhavetoassemblethepatternpiecesatthefrontandback.Pintheraglanpiecesrightsidestogetherontothefront/backpanel.Sewat1cm(3/8in)toclosetheseam.Sergeandpress.
