As a young boy, music quickly became his refuge. He was twelve years old when he first heard Ray Charles sing. He was immediately moved by Ray’s unique soul and spirit. But Vinny did not initially realize that Ray was also blind. When he found out, it gave him renewed hope and encouragement, and Ray Charles became Vinny’s musical hero. Vinny and his musical partner, Elysa Sunshine, created “Soul of the Century” as his personal tribute to Ray Charles. Soul of the Century *Vinny St. Marten’s personal tribute to Ray Charles

featuring the Seeing Eye Dog Band Sunday November 26 at 2:00 p.m.Vinny St. Marten was born with glaucoma and totally lost his eyesight by the time he was eight years old. As a young boy, music quickly became his refuge. He was twelve years old when he first heard Ray Charles sing. He was immediately moved by Ray’s unique soul and spirit. But Vinny did not initially realize that Ray

was also blind. When he found out, it gave him renewed hope and encouragement, and Ray Charles became Vinny’s musical hero. Vinny and his musical partner, Elysa Sunshine, created “Soul of the Century” as his personal tribute to Ray Charles. Sid Caesar: Pioneer of Television Comedy with Ira Epstein Tuesday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m.Sid Caesar was the star and guiding force behind “Your Show of Shows” and “Caesar’s Hour,” two of the most innovative programs in the Golden Age of Television. He was a master, not only of comedic performance, but also of

developing characters that the audience could relate to, finding the humor in ordinary situations rather than through vaudeville-type gags. His shows brought together some of the greatest comic talent of the day, including Imogene Coca, Carl Reiner and Howard Morris.
