I, with immense pleasure, welcome you to the sprawling campus of Nims
University, Jaipur, a Leading University in India and Ranked No.1 Self
Financed University in North India. A journey that is embarked by you
upon pathways that continued lead you to become a good Doctor,
Engineer, Architect, Scientist, Administrator & other Professional to
Serve Humanity.
Nims University, situated in the lap of Aravali hills and natural
Serene beauty, stands for great educational vision. We, at Nims University
believe in the commitment of quality of academics, as the empirical value
of freedom can only be realized through education that helps in the
exploration of the new horizons facing human civilization. We aim at
creating an environment where innovation and creative enterprise will
flourish to establish the highest standards in the Indian and International
Scenario.
Education has no boundaries as it is not limited to the
classrooms. With this view, along with academic excellence, we believe in

INTRODUCTION
Indian Medical Trust set up National Institute of Medical Sciences in 2002 to lead with
advanced knowledge in health and medical science. Being an affiliated college of Rajasthan
University and later of Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur. Later on various other
institutes and colleges were established to impart eduction in dental, pharmacy, nursing,
paramedical, physiotherapy, management etc. This Nims group of colleges and institutes was
transformed to university and was established by an ordinance of Rajasthan Government enacted
on 19 January, 2008 which was replaces by an act ‘Nims University Rajasthan Jaipur Act, 2008’
enacted on 29 March 2008.. And as of now, the university deals with many facilities including
Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, Paramedical, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Law,
and Social Sciences. Nims University Rajasthan , Jaipur is recognized by UGC U/S 2(f) and by
various course regulatory bodies viz; Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Pharmacy
Council of India, Indian Nursing Council, Council of Architecture, Bar Council of India, UGC
Distance Education Bureau and the AICTE. University is also a member of Association of Indian
Universities, New Delhi.
Nims International School affiliated with CBSC is an added facility that caters to school
education from Nursery to Senior Secondary Level. The school is also recognized by IOS, New
Delhi and is its centre of examination.
During a period of 8 years, the University has become a leader in providing a training
system that combines solid academic experience with hand on practices. One of the key elements
that contributes to our success is the great network of teaching community, our relationship with
the government of Rajasthan, Advisors, accreditation bodies and professional council,
professional association, trust and societies which have have helped the university to improve
every single day since its inception. Excellence in research and development across the academic
departments of the university is our mission. We firmly believe in employing high impact based
training and research practices. The university witnesses commendable performance of its faculty
and research scholars, particularly of their quality research output, which is evidenced by more
than 253 publications by research scholars and 365 by faculty members published in 302 peer
reviewed national and international journals, conference proceedings, monographs, reviews etc.
The Ph.D programme of the university is successfully conducted and in order to promote unique
content, each thesis is checked for plagiarism before it is sent for external evaluation.
No wonder how it was difficult and challenging, we have succeeded in teaching because of
our regular rigorous practice of experiential learning strategies in our classroom. The academia
believes in best pedagogical practices that contact students with immediate environment.
Students are given free accessibility to Wi-Fi to draw maximum benefits from online and virtual
world. Health, physical education and adequate recreational facilities have been placed within
university system, thus enabling a sound mind to grow with a sound physique. Since youth
unemployment is a crisis world over, we render support to our alumni to acquire jobs for their
livelihood. The university has provisions for employing extra ordinary talented students to
support them to continue for further education.

University attracts students and scholars from all over the country and from various parts
of the world. We have students from Sudan, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Yemen,
Somalia, Congo and Eritrea. These students are enrolled in courses including Medicine,
Pramedical,, Pharmacy, Engineering, Nursin, Panagement, Information Technology etc. Some of
them are pursuing Ph.D programme. These students have acquainted themselves with the culture
of India and have been amalgamated into, their colorful cultural performance on their
Independence Day.
The University offers excellent library services to a wide spectrum of users, including
students, scholars, faculty members and visiting scholars. The University library system
comprises of more than 30 libraries attached to different departments/ Colleges/ institutions in
addition to central library facility located at National Institute of Medical Sciences & Research.
The resources of library include 19552 titles, 54405 books, 1093 back volumes, 3601 hard copy
of journals, 16,120 full text online journals, 787 micro documents in Digital Library, Micro film
facility, skill laboratory. Full air-conditioned, with J Gate, Manupatra & E Journal Portals internet
is visited by its users and has a capacity of accommodating more than 1200 students and faculty
at one point of time.
The university provides round the clock students support services in health,
entertainment and security. The transport facility connects the day scholars to our academic
programmes and hostels have been comfortable shelters for those who reside within campus.
National Institute of Medical Sciences & Research has progressed much since its inception
in 2004. The recognition was given for MBBS degree by MCI in the year 2010. Latest most modern
and sophisticated equipment have been added to the central diagnostic division of the NIMS
Hospital. Lecture theatres have been equipped with audio-visual aids of which the faculty takes
full advantage for facilitating teaching learning process. The phenomenal growth in the journey of
National Institute of Medical Sciences & Research and Hospital attained another milestone by
starting post graduate courses (MD/MS) in all the specialties in the year 2011. Four new super
specialty departments namely Cardiology, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Neurology, Urology and
Gastroentrology have been added with most advanced facilities. M. Ch. Programme has been
started in Neuro Surgery and Urology and DM in Gastoentrology. A new milestone, in the name of
In-Vitro Fertilization has been added. These are functioning efficiently and patients are taking full
advantage of these. Bio Engineering technique that uses stem cell to create cornea of part of
cornea is being transplanted with success in the Department of Ophthalmology. This technique
provides vision to those who cannot gain vision through regular corneal transplant or have
inherited genetic degenerative conditions of cornea.
The Nims tertiary level hospital having 1130 bed strength is able to manage social
outreach programme relating to health sciences. Govt. of Rajasthan has recognized Nims Hospiital
fots embitious programme “Bhama Shah Health Programme’ providing free treatment to poor
fafimilies in surrounding rural areas. Nims Hospital is also providing on the spot free treatment
and preventive measures in more than 150 villages in Rajasthan and adjoining states.
Scientific and technological inventions have been the guiding force for the university,
where noble attempts are being initiated in the form of institutional collaborations. Institution of
Engineering and Technology and Institute of Advanced Engineering are premier institutes that
offer programmes in tune with industrial needs. National Referral Centre for Fluoride Poisoning
in India is one of the scientific ventures that attract attention of scholars across states in India and

abroad. State of the art laboratories in biotechnology, plant tissue cultures, microbiology,
biochemistry, food technology and fermentation and environmental engineering have been
operational and have been direct impact on researches that are carried out keeping in societal
and industrial requirements.
Institute of Pharmacy was established in 2006 and within a short span of it has gained
status to provide education from D. Pharma to B. Pharma to Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Institute has become first ever Institution to run Pharm D. and Pham D. (PB) courses and second
institution in North India to start these courses with the permission of Phamacy Council of India..
. The Institute of Management was started in 2006. Since then the management course has
been initiated specialization in traditional professional and innovative courses. Similarly other
courses like B. Arch, Paramedical, Nursing, Physiothrapy, Social Sciences courses were srarted in
different years with the permission of respective course governing Councils.
During 1916-17 galaxy of top academicians descended on the campus of the university
and made us richer by their gracious presences and sharing of their experiences.
The university being self financed is aware of and undertakes its social responsibility for
the socially and economically backward sections of the society. Students take advantage of
Government agencies acholarships and fellowships and many have received study loans from
various banks which are readily provided by bank on campus. Research scholars pursuing for
their Ph.D programme are provided stipend.
Nims University ranks among the prestigious universities in the country in the field of
Academic and Research output. University campus has faculties, departments, and 3 advance
centers. The University is making its mark of the National and International levels in a number of
frontier areas of Medical Education, Ophthalmology, Pharmacovigilance and Biotechnology.
The commendable progress that the university has made in teaching, research providing
education and training in wide range of courses has not made us complacent, instead we are
striving hard to accomplish our mission of attaining distinction in providing time tested learning
experiences and exploring new areas for research of national importance.
We are primarily focusing on:
Consolidation, upgradation and expansion of programmes which have already
been initiated in the university. The Board of Studies is vigilant and keen to
update and modify the syllabus and curriculum to enable our graduates to keep
pace with the latest developments.

University propose to start short term teachers training courses for those on

At Nims University, we believe that the quality of campus upkeep reflects the quality of education. In keeping with its strong pro-green tradition, Nims University has a large garden of medicinal and fragrant herbs. Interested students are provided with tutorials on the various properties of these herbs, as well as given the opportunity to participate in maintaining and growing these herbs. and development provided to students. As a result, no effort is spared in ensuring that the sprawling 60 acres campus is kept clean, green and becoming of our lofty educational standards.
At Nims University, we have a strict no-tolerance policy towards littering, chewing tobacco, smoking, drinking and unnecessary usage of plastic and paper. The student body is the most active stakeholder in this mission, with several student initiatives and clubs addressing these issues, which hold great importance in the quality of campus life.
Bank
Nims University offers elaborate banking services within the campus premises. There is fully functional IDBI bank in the University campus.
In addition, the banks also provide educational loans to students.
ATM
Apart from regular banking services to the students and the employees of the University this bank provides ATM facility to facilitate access to bank accounts for round the clock cash withdrawals.
For the convenience of the students and staff and to save their valuable time, the University has facility of ATM of SBI.
Postal service
A full-fledged post office has been opened at the University campus by the postal department to cater to all relevant needs of students and staff like Mail, Parcel, Speed post, Money transfer, Banking Services.
Central Library
The central Library of the Nims University Jaipur (Rajasthan) has an excellent collection of books, print journals, e-journals and other documents in the fields of medical science, dental, pharmacy, paramedical, nursing, biotechnology, technology management, law, humanities, architecture, mathematics, statistics, economics, statistical quality control & operations research, which are regularly being expanded by adding latest publications. The Library subscribes to all major journals both foreign as well as Indian in the said fields. The collection of the library can be accessed through Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) from any terminals available in the university .
Central Library caters mainly to the bonafide students, scholars and academic staff members of the university. However, it is also open for reference to academic users of other educational and scientific institutions of the city and its neighboring regions. The Library has been providing photocopies of the papers appearing in scientific journals available with the library. Research scholars desirous of consulting library resources are welcome. The Library also maintains contacts with other research libraries of the country through Inter Library Loan (ILL) transactions.

The classrooms architecturally designed with optimal room for natural light and air. They provide a vibrant backdrop to the academic achievements and offer a unique place to study, relax and develop. University provides modern venues for holding large meetings and conferences. University also provides for air-conditioned seminar halls. University has an air-conditioned auditorium with 1000+ capacity. The auditorium is being used for holding scientific/societies conferences seminars/invited/ lead lectures, cultural programs, convocation, faculty meet etc.

Accommodation
The students’ hostels at campus have been beautifully constructed with large capacity. These offer
single, double and triple-sharing rooms at varying rates, as per choice and availability. Located right
next to the University sports facilities, the hostels are a picture of action and festivity on most days.
There are fully sequestered, secluded residential areas for boys and girls.
The hostels have their own housekeeping staff, with an uninterrupted supply of regular water,
purified drinking water and electricity. They have round-the-clock security, with a team of wardens
(both male and female) and the proctor staying within the hostel premises.
Common rooms are equipped with fully Wi-Fi enabled facilities and television. All amenities including
basic grocery shops, canteens/cafeteria, saloon shop, beauty parlor, laundry, Post-Office, Bank, ATM’s
etc are situated very close to Hostels complex in the campus.
Food
Mess Facility
The hostels have a spacious mess with high-quality food served over four meals every day with special
lunch and dinner timings for students. The mess menu is highly varied, and is altered periodically in
consultation with the students.
The Nims Cafeteria:
In addition to the mess and hostel canteen, Nims University has a central cafeteria, with ample indoors
and outdoors seating space. Most of the day, the cafeteria is chock-a-block with patrons looking to
grab a delicious snack, a refreshing cup of coffee or a cold drink to beat the heat. In the late evenings,
the cafeteria transforms into a restaurant, acting as an alternate eating place for those desiring a
change from the regular mess/home food. A variety of sumptuous multi-cuisine dinner items are
served, all prepared in the “Vegetarian Snacks”. You will find several groups of students and staff
engaged in deep conversation, enjoying a tasty, affordable meal under the clear night sky.
Sports & Recreation
Nims University sprawling 60-acre campus is striking for one feature above all else – its abundance of
sports facilities. At any time during the day, you are likely to stumble upon a basketball game, a cricket
match and a soccer rumble, all at the same time. At night, it is the turn of parallel volley ball/basket
ball matches under lights, with several hostel residents cheering lustily from the perches of their
rooms. Student Activity Council pays special attention to sports and the physical development of the
student body. The Activity Calendar is packed with several inter-institute sports tournaments, as well
as tournaments between hostel sections and student batches.
Transport
Catering to a large number of day-scholars, University runs a fleet of buses for the convenience of its
students and faculty. Students are charged a subsidized transportation fee for this facility. The buses
cover several routes in Jaipur. For campus residents, the University runs weekly buses to the nearby
cities. People availing of this facility enjoy a day out on town, with a comfortable ride back to campus
in the evening. University places a high premium on the safety, hygiene and punctuality of its
transport system. The University takes great pains to ensure these key factors, and has appointed a

dedicated Transportation Department to
monitor the performance of the service. In
addition, University has a fleet of cars and vans
for backup transport. When some students are
required to stay back late for trainings,
workshops, extracurricular activities or
organizational activities, the University ensures that their transportation is taken care of by this fleet.
Discipline & Security
Nims University has no-tolerance policy towards ragging of any form on campus. Security officials as
well as University Officials are on constant vigilance to avoid ragging. Nims University actively
counsels all its students against the evils of ragging, and keeping with its core tenet of preventing over
curing. The security infrastructure includes CCTV cameras and walkie-talkies. Security guards
maintain security in the campus. Around 100 Security personnel’s are deployed at all strategic points.
All students are expected to behave courteously with colleagues, faculty and campus visitors. Any
breach of this discipline invites a variety of penalties, including expulsion in extreme cases. Acts of
violence, verbal or physical, are not permissible, and are dealt with strictly. A full-fledged internal

Music Club
This club is a joint initiative of students and faculty. With the University having Visual and Performing
Arts & Research, faculty being renowned exponents of several instruments and forms of music, this
club is rich with their guidance, ability and involvement. In fact, several students from various streams
opt to earn an extra diploma pursuing their musical passion. The club has organized several concerts
starring renowned musicians. They are omnipresent mood-setters during religious functions of all
kinds. With their immense talent and skill, they play an invaluable role in enlivening the campus
environment. New entrants with a musical bent are actively sought out and assimilated into this
vibrant club.
Dramatics Club
The Dramatics Club has represented Nims University in youth festivals and held exclusive shows
during various other activities and lends its flavor to several other initiatives.
National Tours
National tours form an integral part of most of the courses offered here. These help to familiarize
students with the latest in their respective domain and develop a better understanding of the world.
Projects
Projects are a crucial part of any programme. The Projects are done by a group of students and are
intended to be intensive, active learning projects, requiring significant effort in planning and
implementation as well as preparation of a substantial final written work product. The group students
are made to choose a project from their domain and asked to conduct practical and real life studies on

Internship
In this the students are deputed to work in an organization related to their professional field and thus
get trained in that organization. They usually work on a project for the entire duration.
Mock Interviews
Mock interviews are conducted to make the students aware about the level of interviews conducted by
the industry expert panel. In Mock Interviews the University creates a virtual corporate environment
for the students and virtual interview sessions are held where the students respond at their final
interview day.
Field Trips
Field Trips include students going on a field visit to an organization relating to the profession for
which they are being groomed in order to get a feel of the real world’s professional demands. They
provide a valuable opportunity to discover the realities and practices of the profession the students
are aiming for.
Bulletin Boards
There are bulletin boards in every classroom where the students paste clippings from newspapers,
periodicals, journals or their own creative work which can be of interest or value to others and give a
few minutes presentation on the same. This is followed by a feedback from the rest of the class and a

The Nims University is established under The Nims University Rajasthan, Jaipur Act, 2008 enacted by the Government of Rajasthan.
Establishment
In order to bridge the gaps between academia and industry, an innovative experiment in the form of National Institute of Medical Sciences was established in 2004 by The Indian Medical Trust, Jaipur, Rajasthan under the dynamic leadership and Chairmanship of Professor (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, World renowned Pediatric Gastroenterologist, visionary and creative entrepreneur.
