ASHRAE Pune Chapter will be organising various programmes, and we shall keep you updated on all the
upcoming Calendar of Events in the forthcoming issues of the News Letter.
I would also welcome Contributions, from one and all, to the News Letter to make it more interesting. May I
request you to come forward with your contribution in the form of Articles, News in our Field, New
Developments, Interesting Projects in our Area, and interesting bits of information to make our News Letter
worth reading?
One of the ideas would be to start a Forum where problems from the field or experienced by us, are addressed
by Experts in the field. Pune ASHRAE Chapter is fortunate in having stalwarts in our field who will guide us in the
matter.
I would like to thank Shripad Kulkarni and his associates in making this News Letter a reality, and wish them
success in making this News Letter something to look forward to in the future.
Finally, ASHRAE Pune Chapter is organising the Pune Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Conference, on 17th
Sept,2011, in which we shall be holding Technical Workshops. These will be conducted by eminent Speakers
from abroad.
I would call on all ASHRAE Members to take advantage of this opportunity and enrol yourselves for this Event. In
order to serve our Members better we have decided to keep the Registration amount to the minimum. Please
take advantage of this and in the process make this Event successful.

As per the principle endeavour of ASHRAE, all efforts are to be made to disseminate
knowledge of Heating, Refrigerating, Air Conditioning, Ventilating and other allied
Sciences. In keeping with this endeavour, we at ASHRAE Pune Chapter have decided
to publish a News Letter, which will not only document the various Programmes,
Events, Seminars, Exhibitions, etc. which are of interest to the fraternity of ASHRAE,
but will also give insights into various developments in the field and the progress of the Sciences relevant to us.
From the next issue we are starting “Ask the Expert”“Ask the Expert”“Ask the Expert”“Ask the Expert” column, where you are free to
ask all type of technical Queries & Questions.......Our team of experts at

On 23rd
day of July Pune Chapter arranged its 3rd
Installation ceremony of chapter office bearers & Board of Governors.
Chief guest Mr. Mukund Ranade, lead newly elected chapter’s office bearers under the president ship of Mr. RS Kulkarni
and the Board of Governors, in taking the oath.
President RS Kulkarni addressed the gathering with chapter’s upcoming events for the year.
IPP Ashish Kadam also thanked to all members, supporting organisations helping him in his tenure as a President.

Upcoming Events
� ...Pune Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Conference
ASHRAE Pune Chapter is presenting its mega event PARC (Pune Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Conference)
with its theme “Efficient Management of Indoor Environment”. A full day conference will take place on
17th
September at hotel ISTA, Pune. The conference will have three parallel technical sessions spread over day
with eminent lecturers from overseas to enlighten the mega event.
Mr. Bruce Badger, President & Secretary of International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration ( IIAR ) who was
also a MD of Asia Pacific operations & corporate VP for Evapco. He has also served as VP of the York
Refrigeration group of York International, He will grace the occasion as the chief guest for the conference, and
will also deliver his lecture on “Future Trends & Challenges in Refrigeration& Air conditioning”
Prof. Jianlei Niu, is a professor & research committee chair for department of Building Services Engineering and
Director of Research center for Building Environmental Engineering at Hong kong Polytechnic University. His
invention “Personalized Ventilation Technology” has been patented in both China & US. Mr. Niu is a ASHRAE
Distinguished lecturer and shall deliver a workshop on “ Room Air Distribution : Stratified Air Distribution
systems & Reduced Cooling load calculation Method”.
Mr. Kris Krishnan, ASHRAE member, is a licensed ‘Professional Engineer’ by Association of Engineers of Ontario,
Canada. He is one of the early entrant in the field of IAQ and developed new products & methodologies in IAQ.
During the conference Mr. Krishnan will conduct a workshop on “Latest trends in IAQ & its measurement”.

� Pune Chapter will conduct various workshops & technical seminars on Heating Ventilation
Air-conditioning & Refrigeration systems, their maintenance for the design engineers & service personals
in the upcoming year.

Activities & Initiatives
ASHRAE Pune chapter had organised an Industrial Tour on 27-28th
August to cover learning sessions by visiting
some of the leading companies like Godrej eon, Mapro foods, & Shivraj cold storage along with a power
station on Veer Dam near shirwal.
Pravin Salunkhe a BOG member of Pune chapter lead the entire Industrial tour and visits by arranging with
the above mentioned companies which helped all the tour members to learn & understand the working of the
companies & the ideas implemented in their plants.
