From the Pastor…..

A Savior and You His spring of water...

“…. but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14

With His Words, Jesus paints a picture of a well that be-comes a fountain that sprays forth the water within it. There is nothing about being filled here… Jesus reveals that the life of a believer is about overflowing, about getting others wet with what the Holy Spirit gives and brings forth from us through faith. This word picture allows us to see the blessings of a vital relationship with Jesus, and what flows out of the saint as abundantly as He supplies it.

So why do our lives seem like dry wells and empty foun-tains? Are you ready for some hard news? If this water, the Spirit of the living God isn’t flowing out of you in praise, love and service to those around you, you are to blame. Something has obstructed the flow. When the Corinthians accused Paul of plugging up their fountain, he reminded them of the real cause of their waterless living and life. “You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affec-tions.” 2 Cor. 6:12. They loved what the world could give and devoted their time and energies getting from them, more than receiving what the Lord lovingly supplies.

We are to be living springs through which Jesus flows to befriend and bless everyone. As surely as we receive from Christ what He supplies, He will pour out through us. Keep at the Scriptural Source, guard well your belief in Jesus Christ and your relationship to Him, and there will be a steady flow for other lives, no dryness and no deadness.

As it is an extravagant thing to say that out of an individ-ual believer, rivers are going to flow, because our Lord is ex-travagant in His love, mercy and life that He gives and lives through faith in each believer. We become springs only by what He supplies, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God, not the result of works, so that no one may boast.” Eph 2:8-9. Having saved us by grace He rebirths with the purpose of being living springs. Springs from which flows the works of love, service and sharing to meet everyone’s need for Jesus

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph 2:10.

One may have serious doubts about being such a fountain. What is forgotten is that Christ never makes any of us to be springs of eternal life for ourselves. We were made springs for others. As such sacred springs in Christ daily made wet by Christ … we look for those we need to get wet and refreshed with the waters of His mercy, love, service and sharing… and then we set about splashing others with whatever works of love we can do to meet their need for Jesus Christ.

God bless and love you, Pastor Love

Our presenter will be Rev. A Trevor Sutton. He is associate pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan, and PhD student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. In addition to his M.Div. he has an MA degree from Michigan State University in Digital Rhet-oric and Professional Writing. Rev. Sutton is the author of a number of books published by CPI-I including his most recent book Clearly Christian: Following Jesus in this Age of Confusion. He has also au-thored numerous articles in a variety of publications including the Concordia Journal and the Lutheran Witness. Rev. Sutton has been a frequent presenter/speaker including at various LCMS district events and the LCMS National Youth Gathering and has appeared on KFUO and Issues Etc.. His interests include: Technology and Theology, So-cial Media, Faith and Science.

Rev. Sutton's synopsis of the presentation: Contemporary culture is a world of confusion. Post-modernity, fake news, social media, and technology are only the beginning of our confusion. Clear Christianity is something that this world desperately needs. In a world of counter-feits, the Christian faith is real, solid, and substantive. These presentations will explore clear Christianity as it relates to contemporary culture, social media, and technology.

The convocation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614. Check-in and continental breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and the program will be from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., including lunch. The cost will be $20 for each adult participant and $10 for students. We encourage you to invite ALL your members to attend.

Registration can be by congregation, using the enclosed form, or by individuals. In order to avoid dupli-cation, congregational registrations should include names of all registrants included in the total number on that form. Registrations should be made by Wednesday, August 7. Philippians 4:13 “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength”.

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry Mission is to share the mercy, compas-sion, presence and proclama on of Jesus Christ to those who are hur ng, suffer-ing, and in need.

Trinity Lutheran Church Comfort

Dog Ministry exists to comfort, strengthen, and serve our church, our school, our community and beyond by sharing Christ through witness opportuni es,

sharing God’s mercy in our life together with the calming presence of a Comfort Dog.

So when bad

things happen, good people rush in. That is mercy and compas-sion.

God is listening

and ac ve in our lives. That is His presence working.

My handlers, Ezra Comfort Dog, and

Born Again to a Living Hope

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied

about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. Called to Be Holy

13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, 18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 20 He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you 21 who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

2 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, 23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 24 for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”

And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
