Ordinary Time This season of the Christian calendar is called Ordinary Time. In this season there are no "big" days like Christmas or Easter. Ordinary Time will end on Christ the King Sunday, which is the end of the Christian year. However, ordinary just does not seem to be the best word to use for any season when we are talking about The Jesus Story. The story of our lives seems extremely ordinary while we are living it. We spend time waiting, washing dishes, filling our gas tanks, sitting in traffic and a host of other ordinary activities. There just does not seem to be anything extraordinary about us or our lives. But, it is in these ordinary moments that Jesus is seeking us, molding us and giving us grace to live His life. It is in our ordinary time that we bump into people whose ordinary time needs some of the grace you have received to lift their spirits toward wholeness and healing. You are not ordinary! So, in this season of Ordinary Time, let us all be mindful of the extraordinary grace of Jesus to see us through our ordinary lives. This is the life and time that we have been given and it is in this life and time that the Holy Spirit will break through and do the impossible - which is actually ordinary for Jesus. Rev. Ordinary Time will end on Christ the King Sunday, which is the end of the Christian year. However, ordinary just does not seem to be the best word to use for any season when we are talking about The Jesus Story. The story of our lives seems extremely ordinary while we are living it.
