All very exciting projects for our kids.

This week in ReviewSCIENCE - FOCUS ON ACTION/REACTIONRoom One’s focus is around the periodic table. Each student has been assigned an element to research e.g. Calcium, Iodine, Sodium. There are at least 100 elements on the periodic table. Can you try to guess some more elements that appear on the table? by Sharlee, Corajade and Ryna
Making Oobleck/Gloop in Room 18!Room 18 has been having lots of fun whilelearning about Action and Reaction. We got very messy making Oobleck, and as you cansee there were some wonderful reactions takingplace - both in the mixing process and on thechildren’s faces! We learnt that the Oobleck mixture isn’t your typical liquid - or solid. The cornstarch and water mixture creates a fluid that acts more like quicksand than waterapplying force (squeezingor tapping it) causes itto become thicker.
‘SCIENCE IN A VAN’ ROAD SHOW On Wednesday and Thursday last week Matamata Primary were entertained,Taught and engaged by the ‘Science in a Van’ Roadshow. The Science in aVan roadshow experience provided the teachers and students with a fun, interactive and memorable way to see, teach and engage with science. This was an easy and exciting way to enhance our science programme.
Was it a theatre show? Was it a science lesson? It was both! The topics thatThe science roadshow covered were ‘The Wonderful World of Bubbles’ andThe Middle/Senior classes learnt about ‘matter’ through ‘What’s the Matter? - Understanding Materials’.
