Dear Families,
Staffing News
As you may or may not know, Mrs Worley has been a temporary teacher at our school for many years. She has been patiently awaiting her service transfer to come through. I’m extremely pleased to announce that not only has Mrs Worley’s transfer finally come through...but we are delighted that it has come through
right here at Cardiff Public School. We are so pleased to have her join our team on a permanent basis. I’m sure that you’ll join with me in congratulating Mrs Worley on her transfer. On a side note, this will not have any impact on our current
classes for 2019.
The Greatest Show—Concert
Excitement is building in the lead up to our biennial concert. Students have been rehearsing and putting the final touches on their acts, and our lead actors have been busily learning their roles. We’d like to sincerely thank our group of dedicated volunteer parents who have been helping to print the
white T-shirts ready for all of our
students.
We are also very appreciative of the
efforts all of our families go to in purchasing and preparing their
child’s costumes.
It took less than 4 weeks to sell out
b o t h o f o u r e v e n i n g performances—we’re sorry if you missed out. We do, however, still have a very limited number of tickets still available for our
Wednesday Matinee Show.
Celebrating SASS Week
No kids—this has nothing to do with someone being ‘sassy’. Our SASS are our School Administration and Support Staff. They are the glue that holds our school together and we would definitely be lost without them. The next time that you see one of our office staff, one of our SLSOs (teachers’ aides) or our General Assistant, Mr Dixon, please
let them know how much you appreciate their efforts. They truly
are our unsung heroes.
Hunter Athletics Championships
Congratulations to our two representatives, Riley & Micah, at last week’s Hunter Region Athletics
Championships. Both boys braved the atrocious conditions, and competed so well in their respective events. Riley made it through to the 100m final for his age group, and Micah jumped an impressive 3.77m (all in the pouring rain). A fantastic
effort by both boys.
Lids for Kids—Recycling Program
Don't throw away those plastic lids! They can be recycled to make prosthetic limbs for disabled children using 3D printing. Next time you are planning to throw your bottle cap away, think twice as it can be used to make prosthetics for children using 3D

technology. We’re teaming up with the Judd family in collecting plastic lids. Students can bring them to school and place them into the
collection box. (see more-page 10).
PSSA Finals
Congratulations to all of our PSSA sport representatives throughout the season. The great sportsmanship, effort and school pride shown in every game was wonderful to see. Thank you also to all of the parents who came along to support our
students each week. Many thanks also go to Miss McMahon, Mrs Baggs and Mr Surjan for giving up their time
to help manage these teams.
Have a great week! Mark Kyrwood

Father’s Day Stall and DUGS Morning
The P&C extends a HUGE thank you to
all the volunteers who helped out at
the stall, everyone who donated a
something or other, and especially to
the Mums, Dads and carers who
remembered to pop some change into
the kids’ hands to spend. It was such a
thrill to see all the happy smiling faces
as the students searched for treasures
and calculated their budget.
Thanks also to the DUGS who came on
Friday and bought an extra something
or a coffee from the canteen and took
part in the activities.
We are pleased to announce that the
P&C raised over $1600 over the two
days, a fantastic amount that will be
well used to improve school life for
every student and family of the school.
Well done, and thanks.

LIDS F R KIDS! Don't throw away those plastic lids! They can be recycled to make prosthetic limbs for disabled children using 3D printing.
Next time you are planning to throw your bottle cap away, think twice as it can be used to make prosthetics for children using 3D technology. Did you know it takes 500 lids to make a limb? The Judd Family at Cardiff Public School, have kindly vol-unteered to collect as many plastic lids as our school community can provide, and deliver them to “Envision Hands”, the company which produce mobility aids for kids Once the lids are transported to Envision Hands' ware-
house in Melbourne, they are organised into colours. Next, they are shredded and then fed through an extrud-er, which produces an ink-like filament. That filament is then used in conjunction with 3D soft-ware to print the mobility aids. Types of container lids that can be recycled include: milk, water, juice and soft drink (only, and NO pop-top lids please!). Could you please rinse the lids and remove the inner seals. A large storage container will be placed in the library for the collection at our
school. Thank you so much for helping out with this amaz-ing project! Lyndal Wallace Librarian
