Celebrating Women’s Day
Dear parents and students,
Where has the year gone? The matrics have started writing their prelims. We wish them everything of the best.
We came third in the A League inter high final and the B team came second in their league. I would like to thank all the athletes, coaches and teachers who put in many hours of work. You are true LEGENDS! We won the Spirit Trophy. Thank you Mrs Brown and her team. Please note the AGM will take place on 19 September 2019 at 19:00 in the hall. Please support your school! We plan to hand out Term 3 reports for Grades 8-11 at this AGM.
I would like to leave you with the following quote:
We are proud to announce that Jayden Wardle (left) and Titan Botha (right), Under 14 A team, have been selected to play for Golden Lions Youth Rugby in the upcoming Inter Provincial Tournament (IPT's). The IPTs are taking place between the 22nd September and 28th September 2019. This year the IPT's are being hosted by Golden Lions Youth Rugby.

Volleyball Tour to Mahikeng
The annual Volleyball tour to Mahikeng saw , once again, some fantastic volleyball and team spirit from the FHS Volleyball girls. We took four teams on tour; the u19A team and three development squads; u19B, u19C and u16A. All the teams played their hearts out against local teams from SA and against teams from Zimbabwe and Swaziland. The competition was tough, with only the u19A team making it through to the semi-finals and finals. The final was yet another show down between Girls High from Zimbabwe and Fourways High. In a nail biting three sets, the FHS girls placed second. The fact that they managed to bring home Tsholofelo Qholosha as Best Defender of the tournament and Tiara De Robbilard as Best Blocker of the tournament is a testament to how well the girls played and how they fought for every point. With the Mahikeng tour done and dusted, w e look forward to the last few tournaments of the season, with the main one being the TUKS tournament on the 14th of September in which ALL the Fourways teams participate. It is always a fantastic competition and we look forward to some spectacular volleyball from both our teams and the competing teams. Then it is on to the Annual Volleyball dinner and one last tournament for the u19 and u16 A and B teams at the American International School.

HOCKEY DINNER (MR. T MOEPYE)
2019 was a year of milestones for FHS Hockey and the most pivotal moment of 2019 was on 13 August when we hosted our first combined boys and girls dinner. The dinner was a huge success with over 340 guest in attendance. The success of this dinner was largely thanks to the hockey parents committee who invested many hours and kilometers to ensuring the success of the event. The 1st team captains, Fezile Mthombeni and Jade Van Der Brugghen both walked away with the male and female hockey player of the year for 2019 accolades. Ross Lawlor was the highest winner of the night walking away with a total of four awards! A special thank to the following companies who played an integral role to in ensuring the success of the night in no particular order, Decor4U, Chefs in the kitchen, Danone SA, BootLeggers, Sir Juice, Espora non Alcoholic Wines, Functacee Parties, Centurion Limousines, House of Champions, Netflorist, Aster Rue Creations and Rpm events.
Congratulations to Grade 9 pupil Ashlin Gent who competed in the Gauteng National Gymnastics Competition, sticking to all of her routines which included bar, beam, vault and floor. The apparatus finals took place where Ashlin competed in the beam event and was placed 4th in the Junior Olympic section.
BLOOD DRIVE 19 AUGUST 2019 The Blood Drive that took place on Monday 19th August was a huge success, with Fourways High donors exceeding the target set by the SANBS (South African Blood Services). Thank you so much to the students that volunteered their time to help on the day – Amy Irving, Caylin Young, Chris Dasha, Unathi Ngwenya, Ntando Kulati and Catherine Ritchie, and to Ms Winson who organized the event and worked tirelessly throughout the day. Thank you SO much to all the FHS legends who donated their blood – 88 in total! “If you are a blood donor, you are a hero to someone, somewhere who received your gracious gift of life. “ Amy Irving (Head of Service 2019/2020)
