A reminder that your term 2 invoice is due 10th June, please if you are having any trouble paying on time do not hesitate to email Stephen or the group, we do need to send the membership fees to Scouts QLD on time to make sure our youth members are financial and covered by insurance. This would be a great help. We have coming up in the school holidays the Uni students staying at Seeonee Park where we need all the helpers to make sandwiches the night before, there is a sign on sheet at the den, or email your available dates to the group email. also post on the closed group facebook. this is a great fund raiser for the group. If your child is going to Cuboree, the final payment has just passsed 1st June, be sure to log on to the scouts web site and finalise that. Kate from Yeppoon got to meet the cubs at the silver boomerang, whom will be with our cubs during Cuboree. Thank you to Koala (Jo) for organising the MT Hay Visit, the cubs enjoyed the fossicking, and thank you to Bagheera (Paul) and Liz for providing afternoon smoko. Happy Scouting Troy Scharer Committee Chairman Well another term is almost finished and it has been a great term. All the sections have been on camps and there were some amazing things completed on these. We look forward to more camps next term. Fees- I hope everyone has paid them. It is very important that fees are paid on time, it helps us meet all accounts with Brisbane and the other bills that come in regularly. If you are having problems, please do not hesitate to contact the Treasurer or myself to work out a plan. Fundraising- we have a great fundraiser happening these school holidays. Every year for the past 10 years, the University of Queensland Geology students camp at Seeonee Park and do a unit of work studying the rocks in the Gracemere area. Mount Archer Scout Group has been providing lunch for these students however we need some helpers to make the sandwiches. There is a sign up list at the den or you could contact Fiona to put your name on the list. We are on the look out for anyone who may be interested in becoming a leader. All training is provided and there are Cert 3 and Cert 4 on offer when you have completed your training. Whilst we have leaders in each section, we need to plan for the future and also without leaders we can’t take extra youth members, so some children could miss out on the same benefits that your child is by being in Scouts. If you’re interested or know someone, please contact me. Until next time, have a great holiday and hope to see you at sandwich making. GREEN GORILLAS TAKE THE WIN

The Green Gorillas or more formally known as the Fitzroy Rover crew which are Scouts aged between 18 and 26 from Yeppoon all the way to Gracemere and are based at Mt archer den, won the June moot cup last month. This year’s June moot was held by the Hinkler rover crew in Bundaberg, although not being held in June this year but over the long weekend over the end of April and May. So the name was changed to April May June Moot. The Green Gorillas completed various challenges from a blindfolded obstacle course to cardboard Viking ship battles to building rafts out of bamboo and empty barrels. It was neck and neck between the Gorillas and the Dolphins from Gladstone, but the Green Gorillas took a solid lead in the final challenge. There raft was the only one to stay in one piece and carry everyone on their raft in the race. When it came to announcing the winner for these years’ winners, there was only 100 points between first and second. Dolphin will have to try their chances for the cup next year as the Fitzroy took the June moot cup this year. Unfortunately we cannot compete next year as we are hosting the event but we wish them luck. But we will win the cup back!
