Flat planThis is a detailed flat plan that I have hand drawn, then scanned onto the computer. It shows where a bouts I initially planned to place my main image, my mast head and the other various of features that I have chosen to place on my magazine cover, including other smaller images, which are placed along with another small article. I have also placed a strip across the page that states ‘Exclusive Interview’, this is a rather large feature, dominating most of the page But I believe it is necessary because it attracts the audience encouraging them to read the magazine. I have also placed a circle in the centre of the page which quotes the artist I have interviewed, again this attracts the audiences attention. I believe this plan follows most of the conventions of a real music magazine, hopefully helping to create a successful, fitting magazine cover.

1st DraftThis is the first draft of my music magazine cover.I believe it is quite successful as a first draft following all the conventions of a real music magazine. I have placed the photo of the artist I have chosen to interview in the centre of my magazine to highlight that it is the main feature of my magazine, although I think it is an appropriate photo that gives of the correct image and will attract the correct audience, it is very dark so therefore must be made brighter, so it appears more professional. From the flat plan I have changed the long banner across the screen that states ‘Exclusive Interview’ and have instead placed it in a circle, which appears like a stamp. I have done this because it follows the conventions of a real music magazine more precisely than the banner did, plus it appears clearer. I have also added text along the right side of the page, in many colours, which will attract the audience. Including puff words and various ‘Pop’ artist names. I believe this page is clear and well laid out, however It does require a few more photos to appear on the page and there needs to be a barcode, so they follow the conventions of a music magazine.

This is a screen shot of the editing programme Photoshop. This is the programme in which I produced my magazine. Here I have taken a screen shot as I am placing a Star shape which states ‘Inside’, inside it. This I believe is a valid part of the front cover, because it again attracts the audience, therefore encouraging them to read the magazine. It is often seen on these music magazines with a similar target audience to mine, therefore adding these features allows my magazine to follow the conventions of a regular music magazine. Here we can also see the text that I have chosen to use and the artists I have chosen to feature. These all reflect the content of the magazine, therefore attracting the target audience (young females) because they would be interested in these artists, so these features would engage the audience.

Final versionThis is my final magazine cover, as you can see here that it has developed a lot from my initial flat plan and first draft. I have added a great detail to my cover, including more photos, not only of artists but also of beauty products. There is also a wider range of articles being featured. In contrast to my flat plan the mast head has become smaller than the main title which states ‘Abbie S’, this is purely because I feel the magazine would be recognisable, so the you would want the audience to be attracted to the main article rather than the mast head. Plus if it was recognisable they would know what magazine it was just by the layout. Still, the mast head has been presented with bright, bold colours therefore will stand out, attracting the audience. I have added a barcode and issue number to the magazine to the follow the conventions of a real music magazine, however I have placed it in a different place to what a magazine would normally do. They would normally placed in the right, bottom corner so it is out of the way, but I have placed it to the left near the centre, which I believe looks more organised on my magazine cover.Over all I like my front cover, it is ordered and easy to understand. While it has it’s own style, it still follows the conventions of a regular music magazine.
