DESCRIPTION

I have done research on different front covers of magazines. i have looked at the layout of them, the colour sachemes and the information and pictures used on the front, and how they work to attract the reader.

The first thing you are drawn to on this magazine is the picture of Jared Leto. This is effective as your eyes are immediately drawn to the cover so it grabs your attention and makes you want to read more. Also by using famous people on the front cover of the magazine, e.g. Jared Leto from 30 seconds to mars, this magazine attracts the fans of the band and also the genre of music that the band creates.

The mast head of this magazine is the biggest item of writing on the cover it is also the boldest. This makes the name of the magazine stand out, so the readers will remember the name. also the mast head has been made more attractive to make it more eye catching.

By using a plain background for the cover, the picture and information on the page stands out more.

The main information on the cover in written red. This is so it is on of the first things that you read, so the reader knows what’s inside the magazine and want to read it.

The over all colour scheme of this magazine in linked to the Kerrang colours, black with and red. Because of the use of colour the magazine will be more memorable.

Popular artists used on cover to draw attention

Competitions and main news highlighted in an exciting way to also make the reader excited about it.

Quotes from celebrities, make you think why they’ve said it to make you want to read on.

Kerrang is already a well known channel. It appeals mainly to people who like rock, indie, punk rock etc. music.

The mast head for this magazine stands out as it is the only red thing on the page. However it is deliberately placed behind the main picture on the cover as it is already a well known magazine and they want to attract the reader to the information within the magazine.

The background matches the main story of the magazine. The main story being about the kings of leon’s album ‘break through’, the band are shown to be breaking through the glass. This give an exciting image and makes the magazine interesting and also makes the reader want to find out about the news.

Colour scheme is used so that the most important information stands out from the rest, so your eyes is immediately drawn to that text.

logo stands out from rest of page as it is the only red thing on there.

By having a well known band on the front of the magazine, it attracts attention to fans. It also goes with the main head line.

The colour scheme is very simple and doesn’t contrast with the background. The main heading is in a bright yellow and is bolder than everything else, this draws attention straight to the main headline.

Information on

the side is also used to give other information on what else in inside the magazine

Side information in bold red writing, showing information that readers will be most interested in.

New music and events listed, attract attention and give information/ inform the reader what is in the magazine.
