FROM FRONT PAGE Mr pervez has said, “ I hope to make a change and fix all my mistakes as there is no excuses for what i have done, and i really hope this does not affect my daughters life as she grows older, i want her to look up to me and say my dad is making a big change and is not into the gang lifestyle”. Imran has described life inside prison as ‘vile’, ‘disgust-ing’ and ‘ugly’, he says, “ prison is the closest to hell in this world, i hope all those youngsters who are involved that gang lifestyle would just leave now because they could end up inside that rotten place or even death, its a very dangerous lifestyle and the consequences could be very severe, the worst part is seeing your parents going through the pain, so i would highly recommend all the youths to stop looking up at these thugs and focus on education or to start playing football, boxing or anything they enjoy, its really not worth it”. Pervez has now set up a youth club for teens from the age of 13+, the youth club involves table tennis, snooker tables and game consoles like playstation 3 and the nintendo wii, his intentions are that the youths use this instead of guns and knives. The youth club is located in balsall heath, on lime grove which is of moseley road. It is welcome to all people from the ages of 13+. Kamran, 21, the older brother of imran is also working alongside with him and is trying to help build a business so imran can use his time wisely and earn a decent living. Kamran and imran where very close but as imran started to get involved in gangs and crime there bond began to fade away. For further information on gun and knife crime, you can contact mr pervez in which he can pro-vide details and advice on gun and knife crime, on 07738397210.

Five fruits a day has change my life completely, at first I thought it was just a saying that five fruits a day will make you healthier, until I actually tried it myself and i can say it made a huge difference. The journey started about 6 to 8 months ago , I was sick and tired of looking in the mirror everyday and feeling ashamed about the way my body was shaped, so I set my self a targer for about a month, my target was to start eating five different fruits per day with a minimum of 8 glasses of water. At first i thought it was not going to make much of a difference and if it would make a difference it might just be a very minor change, so i decided to start gym

BY SOHAIL AHMEDat the same time, by just sticking to doing about an hour cardio per day. After four weeks, i started to notice some changes in my body and my feelings towards myself and other people had changed completely, i felt much better about myself, family members always told me that im always in a happy mood and i look much better, After about 4 months I noticed dramatic changes from my starting point. I have now lost 10lbs of fat and my body percentage from 22% has now gone to 13%. I plan to keep on doing this for the rest of my life, i would also encourage other people to try this.

LOCAL GYM FIGHTS FIRE AND RE-OPENS A NEW START

Inset: Members are happy that the gym is re-opened

Page 3www.basallheathobserver.co.uk

BY SAKAWAT AMINStoney lane gym has now been re-opened, six months after the fire which was caused over a £10 gym membership, the gym is now back up and run-ning. The gym which has been shut over a period of six months has now got eleven cardio machines, a variety of free weights and supported ma-chines. The new gym also consists of a boxing ring, a ufc ring, six punch-ing bags and a staggering amount of chin up bars. Six months ago when the gym had been burnt down from the fire which happened to be caused from a cigarette and a leak of petrol.

Khalid yafai, aged 47, the own-er of 24/7 gym had the gym based on stoney lane in sparkhill, he has said that the gym wasn’t in flames because of a petrol leak but instead a group of 5 men aged between 25-33 had a problem with him in the gym about an issue about joining the gym. Two black males of the group of 5 men came to the gym to make a membership for a month, which would cost them £20 each but these two men refused to pay £20 and said they will only pay £10 each, this lead yafai and the two males to an argument, where both parties contributed in an immature behav-iour.

of insulting each others family, this lead to yafai punching one of the black males. Later on that day a group of 5 males came in black tracksuits at 3.00am where they poured petrol inside the gym and threw a cigger-ate on the petrol causing a huge fire. Mr yafai was devastated that his gym which he had been running for 5 years had been destroyed over a £10 member ship fee. But now the gym is back and hopefully for good this time. A member of the gym, Yousuf Iqbal has said, “ I have been waiting ever so long and i am very glad that the wait is over “.
