Council has taken an option to purchase 67 acres owned by R.D. Stewart, located at N.E. 34-14-18 WPM, south of 9th Avenue, S.W. e land runs from Highway #16A to approxi- mately half a kilometre west of Poplar Park mobile home park. “I am delighted,” exclaimed Mayor Ray Orr. is is something the town has needed for quite a while and council is unanimously behind it.” e price of the land is $335,000, or $5,000/acre. Under the terms of the option, the Town will pay 10% the first year, 10% the second year. is 20% would go towards the price of the property. By September 1st of 2013 the Town must either purchase and take posses- sion of the property in full or forfeit the 20% that had been paid. Agreeing to an option to purchase allows the Town to take the time needed to ensure resources for sewer, water, etc. are all available before going ‘all in’ , as it were. Council has been reviewing various options and chose this particular parcel of land because they feel it best meets the needs of the town for the future. e location is ideal with its proximity to the Minnedosa Golf Course, and it should have fairly easy access to sewer and water. By AMANDA BOYD A series of rash break and enters in the Minnedosa area Monday night have many residents wanting justice. Some- time late Monday night or early Tuesday morn- ing, criminals broke into the Minnedosa Golf and Country Club where they proceeded to steal money, merchandise, and a laptop. During their crime spree, they made a horrible mess in the clubhouse kitchen, pro-shop and Golf Club Pro Deb Pritchard’s office. “I’m not impressed,” Pritchard said Tuesday morning, fighting back tears. “is has been a horrible year with the flood, and now this. Could things get any worse?” Also a victim of theft Monday night was the Clanwilliam General Store. e crooks gained access to the store by prying the wooden door frame and once inside they stole the store’s only laptop com- puter, several open cartons of cigarettes, event tickets and money. e office at the General Store was also ransacked. Co-owners Sherri Pollon and Sandra Syslak were upset about the break-in but were thankful that the store’s antiques and other valu- ables were not harmed or stolen. “Hearing what hap- pened at the Golf Course, it sounds like we’re very lucky they didn’t do more damage,” said Pollon. e RCMP crime scene analysis unit was out to both locations Tuesday morning. It is believed that the same group that robbed the Minnedosa Golf Course hit the golf courses in Neepawa and Gladstone, both of which were victims of similar crimes that night. “It’s very upsetting when this sort of thing happens,” stated Minnedo- sa Mayor, Ray Orr. “I only hope that we’re able to ap- prehend whoever was re- sponsible for it and that we prosecute them to the full extent of the law.” Investigation into both crimes is ongoing and anyone with information about either case is en- couraged to contact their local RCMP detachment.
