Lady Guernsey gave birth to Alfred Charles Heneage Finch - Knightley on on September 28th 2014. Mother and Baby doing very well as is his father!!!

The Coffee Morning.

The Coffee morning was again held in the Pompeiian Room this year. Thank you for all the wonderful help from Valma Grant, Ann Beaty, Ros Smith, Chris Evans, Janet Nesbit and Janine Plain - Jones, and of course the unseen hero, Harry Grant who does all the washing up!!! Ali Davies took over the door and Liz Litherland and Sally Harland did the Raffle for us - Thank you to them as well. Sadly Carol and David Garnet were suffering from heavy colds so were unable to come. Hope that they are better now. The total to go to the Church fund was £572.36 This sum has been gradually going down over the last few years so we must make a real effort next year. Thank you to everyone that made cakes and biscuits for us and came and supported us.

ARNOLDS HAVE TAKEN ON OLD HALL FARM SO FAR THERE IS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM.

THE FARM IS TIDY - THE CROPS LOOK GREAT THEY SEEM QUITE HAPPY - THE RENT’S UP TO DATE

SO FAR, QUITE SENSIBLY, THEY HAVE NOT MENTIONED GAME UNLIKE SOME OTHERS I COULD POSSIBLY NAME.

THE BROTHERS BEATY NOW THE DAIRY FARM RUN, THEY HAD MORE SCRAP THAN STEPTOE AND SON. WE HAVE ADAM THE ORIGINAL CHEEKY CHAPPIE, A PRACTICAL JOKER WHO ALWAYS STAYS HAPPY. A NIGHTMARE FOR TOM, WHAT MIGHT ADAM DO

SO HE GOES OFF SHOOTING EVEN MORE THAN I DO. MOTHER ANN KEEPS THINGS AS CALM AS CAN BE

IF SHE NEEDS HELP SHE CALLS ELLEN PC.

THE BARBER FAMILY - HERE SINCE THE YEAR DOT IT IS NOW GEOFF’S TURN TO MANAGE THEIR PLOT.

HE HIDES BEHIND HIS GREAT WALL OF STRAW ITS CRUMBLING A BIT SO NOW WE SEE MORE

OF HIS NICE LITTLE EARNER - ALL CASH IN HAND WITH A BUMPER CROP OF WHITE CARAVANS.

FOR LAWRENCE AT PARK, LIFES A BIT OF A PAIN HE HAS TO CONTEND WITH BOTH QUARRY AND TRAIN.

I AM SURE THAT WITH A MODICUM OF TRAINING THE STATION MASTERS JOB IS HIS FOR THE TAKING.

ONE THING IS FOR SURE - HS2 WILL BE FASTER, THAN LAWRENCE’S GREAT LOVE THAT WE KNOW AS PORSCHE®!

THE MINSHULL’S FARM ALL AROUND US HERE SO WE CAN KEEP AN EYE ON THEM ALL THROUGH THE YEAR.

POOR OLD SAM - IT MUST MAKE HIM WEEP HE’LL SOON HAVE MORE HORSES THAN HE’S GOT SHEEP.

BILL IS A CHIP OFF THE OLD MANS BLOCK WHICH ACCOUNTS FOR HIS PROWESS AS A RUGBY PROP.

THE OLD BLOCK JOHN ‘S STILL AROUND TO GIVE THE ODD TIP, HE’LL BE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE NOW HE HAS A NEW HIP.

BILL JONES IS THE SENIOR -THOUGH NOT BY FAR, CRICKETER,GOLFER - A REAL SPORTING STAR.

HIS REMAINING AMBITION WHICH MAY TAKE SOME DAYS, IS TO GO ROUND A GOLF COURSE IN LESS STROKES THAN HIS AGE.

AT THE YOUGER END WE HAVE TOM LAIGHT, WHO IS GETTING TO GRIPS WITH THE FARM AT EAST GATE.

SO FAR UNTAINTED BY ANY NEIGHBOURING FARMER I’M SURE HE TAKES ADVICE FROM WOODCHIP - HIS FATHER.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST,THE OLDEST ROCKER IN TOWN NIGEL’S PONY TAIL’S GONE -BUT THEN SO’S HIS CROWN

HE RUSHES ABOUT AT A TERRIFIC RATE AND FOR ALL OUR FUNCTIONS HE’S USUALLY LATE

KERI RUNS THE BUSINESS AT HOME - OR I HAVE A HUNCH THERE WOULD BE NO B AND B IT WOULD BE BED AND LUNCH

ALL IN ALL THEY ARE A PRETTY GOOD CREW, THEY WORK VERY HAR ,BUT HAVE SOME FUN TOO

AND WHAT WE ALL THINK IS REALLY GREAT IS THE AMOUNT THEY ALL CONTRIBUTE TO LIFE ON THE ESTATE.

Well, it looks like we are going to have a wet and windy winter, but that doesn't stop the fun at the Undercroft.

Our last event was a Halloween, Quiz with fish and chip supper and we certainly had some fun. Over 70 people attended and the evening was a great success. We were so pleased that everyone entered into the "spirit" of the evening and dressed up. There were "Draculas' and witches" everywhere.

Vanessa Burchell was our well deserved winner for the best ladies fancy dress.

Pete Forte was the winner for the Men's best fancy dress. He even walked the estate to find a suitable stake to represent the scythe.

Packington Estate Social Club

Talk about keeping it in the family - Jasmine Burchell won the child's best fancy dress.

Just a few of the guests that attended.

Recognise anyone?

We will be having a Christmas party on Friday 19th December so please come and bring a plate of food to share. The theme will be 'Christmas' so get out those Christmas jumpers and hats and lets have some fun.

The social club is open on the last Friday of every month so please support us.

We will be arranging lots more events and will be planning another 'Onesie' night in January and a 'family night at the dogs' in February for those who are interested.

Remember - everyone is welcome and all profits go to charity so please bring your friends and family and enjoy a night with us.

Policing UpdateThank you for calling in suspicious incidents, the travellers in their horse drawn vehicles and white transitvans were reported by Lawrence Meakin and Adam Beaty promptly, the vehicles were checked out and theydidn’t stay in the area for very long, probably due to all the attention they received – Adam you don’t usuallyget up that early...

Since the last newsletter a couple of vehicles have been broken into at the Golf Clubs and a Range Roverstolen, SITA have suffered fuel theft and also reported suspicious vehicles in the area. One premises has hadoutbuildings broken in to and the quad bike stolen was recovered in Hurley the next day.

We are actively promoting property marking, so if stolen things can easily be identified/returned and if foundon the thieves become much quicker to identify as stolen. Items can be marked overtly or covertly. If youhave a Community Event coming up let us know, those attending can bring portable items and we can markthem there and then giving appropriate advice about alternative techniques. Perhaps the Parish Meetingwould be appropriate.

Remember Christmas is coming up, ensure your home looks occupied – utilise timer switches, don’t leavepresents on display – at home or in the car.

I reiterate if you think something is suspicious then it probably is so please report all incidents, call 101 fornon emergency or 999 if appropriate - I can’t do anything about problems I know nothing about.

Take Our 10 Minute Internet Safety ‘MOT’!   As part of a national campaign to promote Internet safety, Warwickshire Trading Standards are encouraging residents to take ten minutes out of their day to give themselves an Internet safety ‘MOT’.   Can you answer ‘yes’ to all these questions?

1) Am I using the latest anti-virus software? 2) Am I downloading the latest software updates? 3) Do I keep sensitive information private on insecure websites and social media? 4) Do I look for ‘https’ and the padlock sign before I enter sensitive information on a

web page? 5) Do I look at Internet reviews of online businesses before I shop with them? 6) If I have a credit card, am I using it when I make purchases over £100, to give

me extra consumer protection? 7) Am I backing up all my data? 8) Am I keeping passwords and PINs secure? 9) Do I use strong passwords that are unique for each website? 10) Do I delete unexpected emails without downloading attachments or following

links?   If you have answered ‘no’ to any of these questions then you’ve failed your ‘MOT’!   Take action now to keep yourself safe by visiting: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/consumeradvice
