"They that wait upon the Lord…"
Isaiah 40:31
Do you enjoy waiting? Specifically, do you enjoy 'waiting
on God' to answer you, supply your needs, and guide you
along His way? Don't worry, most of us don't enjoy times of
waiting. But sometimes maybe we could change our attitude
and thinking about times of waiting.
The word "wait" gives us a picture of two things. The first
is of a waiter at your table attending to your needs. The second is often of a lower-
level person making a request of a higher-level one. Our success depends on
approaching them the right way, and on their willingness to grant our request.
Since they hold the power, you and I must be patient and wait for them.
Well, I think we get the idea. Our problem is twofold. First, we want God to
wait on us, instead of the other way around. Second, we don't want to wait for
anything! WE drive to work listening to the radio and talking on the phone; some
of us even put ourselves and others at risk by text-messaging. Vance Havner
points out that in the Old West if someone missed a stagecoach they said, "That's
okay, another one will come around in three or four weeks." These days, we don't
even want to wait for a revolving door!
You see, what God does in us while we are waiting is often more important than
what we're asking God to do. Waiting on God brings rewards that nothing else will.
Here are a few of them…
1. Vindication - "Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those
who do wrong…delight yourself in the Lord and he will
give you the desires of your heart" (Ps. 37:1, 4 NIV).
2. Strength - "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait
for the LORD." (Ps. 27:14 NIV)
3. Deliverance -"I…waited for God…He lifted me out of the ditch."
(Ps. 40:1-2).
So each day as we live for God, I hear Him tell us to relax, wait on Him, and He
will come through for us once again!
SO let's all wait for Him together this Lord's Day at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Jesus will be with us and He'll be
WAITING for us to respond to Him.
I love each of you and I'll see you at
church.

HEY YOUth! Our 6 week BIBLE STUDIES FOR LIFE begins this month and the first unit is PRESSURE POINTS. We will look at the Pressure of Trials, the Pressure of Temptation, the Pressure of Partiality, the Pressure of Words, The Pressure of Conflict, and the Pressure of Retaliation. Pressure is EVERYWHERE! The writer said, “my hope is that as YOU engage this study, you will avoid the pressures that mess up our lives.” We will see you in Bible study!!
Our Discipleship study this month is David Platt’s FOLLOW ME. Here is LIFEWAY’S review, “When Jesus says, "Follow Me," it's not an invitation to say a prayer, it's a summons to lose our lives. In this much-anticipated follow-up to Radical, Pastor David Platt challenges the traditions of cultural Christianity and reintroduces us to Jesus and His most simple request: Follow Me.” The class starts at 5pm each Sunday. See you there! OVERTIME this month will be JOHNNY’s PIZZA on Sep 8th and the SASSER
HOME on Sep 22nd. On Wednesday morning, September 25th at 7am, “SEE YOU AT THE
POLE” will take place around the school’s flagpole. “IF THEN” is the theme for this year. You be faithful with this time of praying with your fellow students. That night at 6:00pm, we will have our Associational rally, “SAW YOU AT THE POLE” at
FBC, Crossett. Make plans to attend. Yes, we will take the bus over there. To our SENIOR ADULTS, ‘the Young at Heart’…here is your schedule for
