The purpose of this guide is to get you to think about elements of your website before you start building it?

A new customer may stumble across your site and getthe telephone number, however this is no better thanan expensive yellow pages.

It is much easier to sell more to existing clients thanfind new ones. With frooly, you can create a super easywebsite that automatically starts a conversation withevery customer – turning them to members, andeventually to friends.

Friends give better feedback, they are more loyal andthey tell more people about your business.

Your new site will give you and your business theopportunity to reach out to existing and newcustomers online, I think you will agree it should ‘lookthe part’. It should also be a well thought out site interms of content (amount of text per page), layout, images and branding (this includes your logo and anycolours you would like to use). Here are somesuggestions (feel free to pen down your ideas):

Look at your competitor’s websites. I’m not suggestingcopying these; you want to keep your own identity, however this is a good starting point.

Visitors to your site are real people and are much morelikely to trust and buy from you if you keep it personal.Upload some photos of yourself / or your staff and ashort friendly biography telling customers a little aboutyourself (see www.styleaccount.co.uk as an example).

Introduction

Home page – this is arguably the most important pageof your site and it is generally the first page peopleland on; they need to see what they’re looking forinstantly and find it easy to navigate around the sitefrom here.

Decide what pages are important for your site, and inwhat order should they be – what are the best namesfor these pages? We suggest not having too many, ifanything; consider having pages displayed as dropdown menus.

Who, what, where, why, when & how? Any brochure, website or marketing material has to be able to answerthese simple questions about your business. You canstructure this however you would like but werecommend that each area is covered somewhere andeasy to find within your site.

It’s best to start with your goals in mind.

• Perhaps you want to use your site to simply keep your customers informed about all the latest news and gossip. Are you going to have the time to update your site or do you havesomeone else in mind?

• Do you want visitors to your site to use the contact forms? Make sure these are visible andusers know what they’re supposed to do!

• Do you want more phone calls? Make sure your contact details are easy to find.

• Maybe you’re looking to increase local visibility for your business. Talk about what’s happening in your area and keep your site up to date.

• Do you want to direct visitors towards your online shop to buy a range of your products (online shop coming soon)? Make sure signposted towards correct page.

• Do you want to encourage online bookings (online bookings coming soon) or would you like people to use a contact form? Ensure this is easy to find.

Whatever the purpose of your site, it’s important your message is clear.
