"Almond" is also the name of the edible and widely cultivated seed of this tree. Appple (Sayb)

Bread Fruit • Breadfruit is a large tree, in the mulberry family, found native to the

Philippines and all the islands in Southeast Asia. The fruit is similar to bananas, as they can be eaten raw when ripe, and cooked when unripe. The ripe fruit is soft and sweet, while the unripe fruit is harder and starchy, which is where it got the name breadfruit from, as it tastes similar to freshly baked bread when cooked.

Guava• The guava fruit is widely grown in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It

Nectarine • The nectarine is a variant of peach that has a fuzzless skin. Though grocers treat

fuzzy peaches and nectarines as different fruits, they belong to the same species. Nectarines have arisen many times from fuzzy peaches, often as bud sports. Nectarines can be white, yellow, clingstone, or freestone. Regular peach trees occasionally produce a few nectarines, and vice versa. Nectarines are more easily damaged than fuzzy peaches. The history of the nectarine is unclear; the first recorded mention is from 1616 in England, but they had probably been grown very much earlier in central Asia.

Olive• There is a lot of potential for olive cultivation in Pakistan. The estimates have revealed that if eight million

wild olive trees present in different provinces are grafted and converted into the productive olive then there is a potential of earning a maximum of one billion dollars annually (Table-4). Similarly, we may earn a maximum of 9 billion dollars annually if olive cultivation is made on cultivable potential waste lands (Table-5). The olive appears to have been native to Asia, being one of the earliest trees cultivated by man. The trees belong to oleaceae family and comprise 30 genera with 600 species. The plant is xerophitic upon species of tree the olea-europea or Europium olive. Olive is an integral part of the diet of the people of the Mediterranean lands and is a source of fat in diet of these people.

Papaya • Papaya is cultivated firstly for its nutritive values, which are consumed as

the table fruits both in the fresh and processed forms. The fruits are an important and economical source of certain vitamins and minerals. Besides the table uses it is highly priced for its medicinal properties. In Pakistan, province of Punjab and Sindh possess lush green orchards of papaya. Malir area of Karachi and Coastal areas of Sindh province have been growing papaya on commercial scale. Papaya grown in Thatta and Malir District

Peach• Peach (prunus persica) is the most important among the stone fruit and is temperate in

nature. It is considered the native of China and probably developed in persia. It is traditional crop of Northern area of Pakistan and occupies the area of 4543 hectares with the production of 48284 tonnes. Quettea, Kalat, Peshawar, Swat valley and certain parts of Kohistan hills are the main growing area of peach. It is delicious in taste and attractive in flavour and aroma. It contains 10-14. percent sugar, 2 percent protein and rich in ascorbic acid. Vitamins A and B besides iron, phosphorus and calcium

Pear• The pear is a sweet fruit that is said to be related to the apple. Its size is

about that of an apple with several seeds in the core, like an apple. Unlike apples though, most pear varieties have paper-thin skins which are not easy to peel. The skins vary in color—yellow, green, brown, red, or a combination of any of these colors

• The Pecan nut [Carya illinoensis (Wangenheim) C. Koch] is one of the betterknown hickories. It is also called sweet Pecan and belongs to the family “Juglandaceae”. Pecan is native to North America and also exists in Texas and North of Mexico.Now it is Grown in KPK as Plain Nut

Pine Apple ( Ananass)• The king of fruits’ is one of the commercially important fruit crops of world. It

is one of the choicest fruits all over the world mainly due to its pleasant taste and flavor. Pineapple is a good source of vitamin A and B and fairly rich in vitamin C and minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron. It is also a source of Bromelain, a digestive enzyme. In addition to being eaten fresh, the fruit can also be canned and processed in different forms. The pineapple (Ananascomosus) is one of the most popular tropical fruits. The origin of the pineapple is the American continent, probably Brazil and Paraguay. It has spread throughout tropical and subtropical regions as a commercial fruit crop.

Pistachio • The pistachio is the stone fruit of a deciduous tree. In some aspects, the

pistachio tree resembles the almond and walnut trees and belongs to the same family as the walnut. The exact origin of the pistachio nut is not entirely clear. Currently, pistachio trees grow in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy and the US. In countries such as Afghanistan, pistachio trees grow in the wild in mountainous regions, where the tree looks more like a bush than a tree.

Plum• Plum ( ) is an important stone fruit after peach in terms of area and production in

Pakistan. Different varieties of plum ( ,, and ) are grown in varying quantities in different climatic conditions neither too hot nor cold. In Pakistan, it is mostly grown in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The main producing areas of plum are Kalat, Mardan, Mastung, Nowshera, Peshawar, Pishin, Quetta, and Swat.

Pomelo

• Citrus maxima (or Citrus grandis), (Common names: shaddock,[1]

pomelo, pummelo,pommelo,pamplemousse orshaddok) is an originalcitrus fruit, with the look of a big grapefruit, native to South and Southeast Asia.

Sweet orange

• The orange(specifically, thesweet orange) is the fruit of the citrusspecies Citrus ×sinensis in thefamily Rutaceae.[2]The fruit of theCitrus × sinensis is considered a sweet orange, (whereas the fruit of the Citrus× aurantium is considered a bitter orange).

• The orange is ahybrid, betweenpomelo (Citrus maxima) andmandarin (Citrus reticulata)

Straw berry

• The strawberry is an accessory fruit as discussed earlier; that is, the fleshy part is derived not from the ovaries (which are the "seeds", actually achene) but from the peg at the bottom of the hypanthia that held the ovaries.
