I believe rethinking the syllabus had the most impact on how I view students. It made me reflect on how learning takes place. I can now view all students from the viewpoint that they will succeed. I no longer have the preconception that some of them will inevitably fail

What Do College Teachers Do Best?

Page 9: FTLA 2011

FTLA has revitalized my teaching. It's given me the encouragement, support and confidence to make changes in my teaching methods that have reaped benefits and boosted my students' success. Having a group of peers who are all working towards the same goal is very empowering.

I would like to see FTLA operate on a larger scale so that it reaches more faculty. The bonds we have formed at LAMC as a result of this experience will last. I think the more faculty who are involved in FTLA, the more we all will have in common, and the more student centered we will all be, which will translate to improved student success.

Pat Moreno, LAMC
