Ensure the leak tester has no fluid/moisture inside the tubing, connector or bulb. 2. Attach the leak tester to the vent port and pressurize the endoscope to 18.5 – 21.5kPa (140 –160 mmHg). Flex the distal portion of the endoscope in all directions, observing for a drop in pressure. If no leaks are found, release pressure and disconnect the leak tester. Leak test should last a minimum of 30 seconds. 3. If a leak is detected, follow the manufacturer’s instructions 1 to send the endoscope in for repair. Warning: This guide is a summary of the steps necessary to properly clean your Fujinon endoscope. Follow the detailed instructions described in Fujinon’s Cleaning, Disinfection and Storage Manual. Important: • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. • Thoroughly clean the endoscope to ensure effective disinfection/sterilization. • Visually inspect the equipment after cleaning. All channels must be flushed and properly reprocessed, including air outlet channel on DBE endoscopes. 3 If using an automated endoscope reprocessor (AER) for chemical disinfection, refer to AER manufacturer’s instructions. When using an AER a “cool down period” must be allowed for the endoscope to return to room temperature inside and out. Failure to allow for “cool down” may result in damage to the endoscope. 1. Rinse the endoscope and all removable components with potable water. Flush water through all channels 2 three times using the Fujinon cleaning adapter. Purge water from all channels using forced air. 1. Immerse the endoscope and removable components in high-level disinfectant solution. 2. Verify the minimum effective concentration of the disinfectant solution PRIOR to use. 3. Follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions for soaking parameters and other detailed instructions. 4. Inject disinfectant solution into all channels using a clean Fujinon cleaning adapter. Ensure that all channels are filled with the disinfectant and that no air pockets remain within the channels. 1. Thoroughly rinse all surfaces and removable components. Flush sterilized water through all channels 2 using a clean Fujinon cleaning adapter. 2. After rinsing the endoscope and removable components, dry the outside of the endoscope with a clean lint free cloth and flush air through all channels. DO NOT USE a pressurized hose to flush the auxiliary J-Port channel. High pressure may cause damage to the auxiliary J-Port channel. 1. Flush all channels 2 with 70% alcohol followed by air to facilitate drying while in storage. 1. Store all removable components separately to promote aeration of channels and ports. Do not store endoscope in its carrying case. Ensure that the endoscope is hung securely with the insertion tube and light guide cable hanging freely in a well-vented storage cabinet. 2.
