Flash Storage the new normal
Flash Storage the new normal to boost performance & SLA at affordable price.
Walter De NeveBusiness Development Data-Center BeLux
Started as engineer (electronics-automation) in 1980 at Siemens.
After 10 years in the mainframe division (hardware and software) and 5 years
European third level support for disks, tapes and printers, I moved in 1995 to the sales
department where I had the opportunity to startup a specialized sales team in storage.
In 2000 I could lead a storage sales team of 5 people and in 2005 Fujitsu Siemens
asked me to lead the pre-sales division. In 2011 I took the role of storage business
development Belux.
As the role of IT was changing fast, building blocks became nearly commodity an
Fujitsu had a clear focus on end-to-end solutions, my current focus on “datacenter
solutions business development” became evident since 2016.

Optimized: Flexible dedupe and/or compression
No extra license costs
Flexible configuration optionsDecide on application SLA (volume basis) whether to use or not
Needs five times less SSD capacity1
Boosting effective capacity of AF250 up to 48 disksBoosting effective capacity of AF650 up to 192 disks
ETERNUS DX/AF provides
Inline deduplication / compression
Deduplication
1 Heavily dependent on use case | 2 Calculation based on deduplication / compression factor of five
Reduces cost for flash & Increases life span for flash

A bullet-proof solution inline with the budget
"We cannot afford to have our medical
system go offline and since deploying the
ETERNUS SAN, it has been bullet-proof.
Fujitsu really listened to us and went the
extra mile to produce an affordable, scalable
storage platform within our limited budget."
