• will deepen the applicant’s understanding of one or more aspects of the U.S.–ASEAN relationship
What is the Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative Program?
• Sponsored by the U.S Department of State's, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
• 3-4 months during the spring of 2022 (January – May, 2022)
• to conduct research in fields that will support ASEAN initiatives

What is the Fulbright U.S. – ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative Program?
grantees will be expected to seek opportunities to provide an ASEAN
perspective during their time in the United States through guest lectures, seminars, or
participation in academic or professional conferences
to explore possible affiliations with U.S. institutions, including
universities, think tanks, and research institutes

Open to all university faculty, ministry and government officials,
and professionals in the private sector, think tanks, and staff of NGOs
Eligible Applicants

To be eligible, applicants MUST:❖ must be a Myanmar citizen;
❖ must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or higher;
❖ must be proficient in English (minimum TOEFL 550, iBT 79-80). Note: You do not need a TOEFL score to apply for this program, but you may be asked to take the TOEFL during the application process;
❖ should have relevant degrees or professional experience in the proposed field of study;
❖ should have little or no previous experience studying or working in the United States;
❖ must be able to take leave from home institution or post. Important: All grantees are expected to return to their home countries for at least two years at the conclusion of their grant in compliance with the J-visa requirements

Selected grantees will receive the following:
•Free test for TOEFL exam
•A monthly stipend
•Professional and settling-in allowance
•Round-trip economy-class air ticket
•Health and accident coverage
•Opportunity to attend enrichment activities
•J-1 visa sponsorship will be provided
