Elections of local bodies• Under the local government ordinances of 1979• Elections were takes place on adult franchise

• After the elections of all the member of the unit• The chairman,vice chairman,and mayors were all elected

from amongst the members of the local council• There were separate representation for non

muslims ,peasants workers and women

• The local governments could not operate independently from the influence of provincial governments

• Local government were dependent upon the provinces• The budgets of the local governments were also to be

approved by the provincial governments
