• Besides Islamism and Chrisitianism,there are some ideas trend to fundamentalism in Judaism, Hunduism,Sikhism,Buddhism,even in the Confucianists.

Fundamentalism Characteristic

• Common characteristics : to against the modernism, liberalism, secularization.

• In chinese , Christian fundamentalism be translated as 基要主义 since 20 century,but fundamentalism be used in islamism,we called it as 原教旨主义 ,so it usually be mistaken by people.

Christian fundamentalism 基督教原教旨主义

Christian fundamentalism, also known as Fundamentalist Christianity, or Fundamentalism, arose out of British and American Protestantism 新教 in the late 19th century and early 20th century among evangelical 新教会的 Christians. The founders 创始人 reacted against liberal theology and militantly 激进分子 asserted 宣称 that the inerrancy 无错误的 of the Bible was essential 本质 for true Christianity and was being violated 亵渎 by the modernists.

Christian Fundamentalism

• As an organized movement, it began in the 1920s within Protestant churches — especially Baptist 浸会教 and Presbyterian长老派 — in the United States in the early 20th century. Many such churches adopted a "fighting style" and certain theological elements, such as Dispensationalism. The broader term "evangelical" includes the Fundamentalists as well as people with similar or identical religious beliefs who do not engage the outside challenge to the Bible as actively.

• Fundamentalism is a movement, rather than a denomination 宗派 or a systematic 体系的 theology; no one is a "member." Since 1930, Fundamentalism has not been an organized movement, and has not had a national body or official statement of beliefs. The Evangelicals, however, have a national organization, the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE).

• The story in our bookis happened in 1920s,the Jazz Age. and in the book, there is a spacail review as that ： the parties were bigger,the pace was faster,the buildings were higher,the morals looser.while the young were enjoying every minute of the big party, the older generation felt threatened by a culture that seemed to have lost its moral direction.surveys showed that young were losing their faith in god.the concern aroused a revial of fundamentalism in the south.

Causes

• Aftrer WW ,though many Islamic country geⅡt independent and industrial.their rule way is still fall behind the world.Some feudaliam remained in their life.

• At the same time,some revolution officers,such as Nasser, Gaddafi ,lead the revolution in their country,and study communism from Soviet Union.

• But Soviet Union betray them,even in 1979 SU invaded Afghanistan.

• The Israel problem become a blassting fuse of the antithesis between western country and Arabdom 阿拉伯世界 .

Religion School

• Taliban means religion students.• In Pakistan,there are more than 3000

0 religion schools,but in 1971 this number just about 700, the religion school is the hotbed of fundamentalism.

Causes

• The political power hold in the werstern privilege elite,but public people have little earth or capital goods,so their life still very diffculty to change.

• In Algeria,almost all good jobs are monopolized by the Franch-speking supper social stratum, so fundamentalism be taken as a flag of Arabia-speking student,but in fact ,the fundamentalism means their benefits.

• Mordern lifestyle impact the traditional belief.• Unfair world.• Irrationality education.

How to solve these problems?

• In China,we also have some problems in Tibet ,Xinjiang,so we should face it accept it study it and solve these problems.

• Different groups have different priciples,values, so we cann't force our values to other groups.

• Sometimes the development too faster to adapt this lifestyle.
