#FUNDCOURAGE

Our Mission:Urgent Action Fund partners with courageous women’s and LBTQI movements worldwide to support activists striving to create cultures of justice, equality, and peace.

Our Sister Funds:In partnership with our two sister funds, Urgent Action Fund-Africa and Urgent Action Fund-Latin America, we strengthen the resilience of feminist movements worldwide to realize equal rights for women, girls, and trans* people.

Each sister Urgent Action Fund is an independent and autonomous organization. Building on our shared history, we use a common rapid response funding model and work collaboratively to advocate for women’s human rights.

Collectively, we support women’s leadership and activism in more than 110 countries, including areas affected by armed conflict, escalating violence, political volatility, and extreme repression.

Make a Gift:Support women’s and LBTQI human rights globally by making a donation online at www.urgentactionfund.org or sending a check to: Urgent Action Fund, 660 13th Street, Suite 200, Oakland, CA 94612.

HOW RAPID RESPONSE GRANTMAKING WORKS

Activists identify a political window

of opportunity

UAF’s 24/7/365

online application

Protecting the most targeted The 2016 US Presidential election emboldened racial violence and increased hate crimes. In response, a youth group sought a rapid response grant and used it to mobilize security trainings on police brutality, public attacks, and lifesaving techniques like first aid and CPR for adolescent girls of color, queer, and transgender youth in New Orleans.

Upholding equitable healthcare When the Spanish Interior Ministry arbitrarily revoked the charitable status of the country’s leading family planning services provider, activists took to the streets to advocate for access to sexual and reproductive health care. A rapid response grant sponsored legal assistance and media coverage to fortify women’s rights over their own bodies. It also secured healthcare access for LBTQI persons, immigrants, those suffering from HIV/AIDS, and the less able bodied who often seek care from women’s health clinics.

Chronicling the gendered side of warConflict in Syria and Iraq has led to extensive human rights violations against Yazidi women. In an effort to highlight the gendered nature of crimes against humanity and collect legal evidence, a rapid response grant covered documentation and coalition building expenses, which bridged networks Yazidi women refugees fleeing ISIS captivity, gender based violence advocates, and Turkish local and state actors.
