that work towards their goal of available, accessible and affordable communications for all, focusing on creating versatile resources for consumers and a strong evidence base for consumer advocacy activities.

ACCAN funds projects undertaken by community organisations, small businesses, universityresearchers or individuals who satisfy the eligibility requirements. We also accept applicationsfrom individuals or groups that have formed partnerships: in these applications one party isnominated as the applicant and auspicing body.

The Scheme carries an annual budget of $250,000 and accepts applications during one round per year. Applicants are encouraged to apply for funding amounts appropriate to their project to a maximum of $60,000

Community Broadcasting Foundation Indigenous Equipment Grants

Funds are available to assist with establishing or upgrading Indigenous community radio production and/or broadcasting facilities. The grants assist with the maintenance and development of Indigenous community broadcasting throughout Australia.

You can apply for an Indigenous Equipment grant if you are:■ an Indigenous community radio station (licensed Indigenous community radio station or RIBS station). A Remote Indigenous Media Organisation (RIMO) may apply on behalf of a RIBS station but the equipment must be for the exclusive use of one or more RIBS stations. ■ an incorporated Indigenous media organisation producing regular Indigenous programs for broadcast on a licensed community radio station. ■ an incorporated Indigenous media organisation that produces sector wide resources for the benefit of Indigenous community broadcasting.Grants are not available to stations broadcasting under a narrowcast license.

Department of Veteran Affairs - Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST)

To provide support and resources to ESO practitioners for pensions, advocacy and/or welfare work to assist the veteran and defence community.BEST funding is a contribution to costs, not a full-cost model.The priority of BEST activities undertaken by ESO practitioners must be given to Compensation claims and associated welfare activities under the:(a) Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986;(b) Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988; and(c) Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004.

To encourage and support projects for the benefit of ethnic community broadcasting in Australia that are innovative with wide sector impact, build capacity for local benefit particularly for encouraging youth participation at the station, or produce networked programs relevant to a broad ethnic audience.

If you are:■ a long term licensed community radio station ■ a holder of a temporary community broadcast licence (TCBL) on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying. Additional conditions are imposed on temporary licensees with regard to ownership of assets purchased with the grant. ■ an umbrella group (an incorporated ethnic community broadcasting association) representing one or more ethnic groups at a particular licenced community radio station. Secure Schools Program Designed to assist both government and non-government schools assessed as being at risk of racial, religious or ethnically motivated violence, property crime and harassment, in meeting their particular security needs. This is achieved through the provision of funding for security-related infrastructure.

All Queensland state schools, or organisations within a state school's community are eligible to initiate projects seeking funding under the SSS Scheme, including Parents and Citizens' Associations, local councils and local sporting or community organisations.

Projects must have a total project cost of $50,000 or greater. The maximum subsidy that will be provided for an entire project is $500,000 over a 5 year period (adjusted by the State Locality Index). This upper limit applies also to single projects staged over time.

Grants are not available to stations broadcasting under a narrowcast licence. A station with a temporary licence must have been on air for at least two years cumulatively prior to applying.

The McGrath Foundation Provides funding for McGrath Breast Care Nurses nationally, with particular emphasis on rural and regional areas right across Australia. Each McGrath Breast Care Nurse is funded for a minimum of three years.
