AICTE approved institutes and University Departments running PG program having accreditation of the UG/PG program under respective department from NBA.

Matching grant from the Industry.

Limit of Funding 50 Lakhs from AICTE & 50 Lakhs from the Industry

Eligibility of Institute AICTE approved Institutes & AICTE approved University Departments limited to QIP Centers.

Requirements Superannuated Professors / Scientists of reputed institutes (such as IIT, NIT, IIM, IISc., CSIR, DRDO, BARC, TIFR, IISER, Govt. Engg. College, Universities, etc.) and Fellows of National Academies.

Only applicable to Institutes offering PG program.

Duration of Project 2 years or up to the age of 70 years of EF whichever is earlier.

Limit of Funding 13 Lakhs

AICTE: Research Park

DST (SERC): Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and Higher
Educational Institutions (FIST)

Eligibility of Institute All Science & Engineering Departments/ Centers having post-graduate programs which have existed for at least 3 years in universities and other higher educational institutions are eligible.

Requirements Type of Support:
(1) Level 0: for a maximum support up to Rs. 100 lakhs for Teaching as well as Research facilities to the non-self financed S & T departments for 5 years.
(2) Level I: Proposals from relatively small but active post-graduate S & T Department from State & Central Universities & academic Institutions requiring moderate funding for improving quality of teaching & research. The support would be up to Rs 300 lakh for 5 years for augmentation of teaching and research facilities to a Department/ School/ Centre.
(3)Level II: Proposals from well established S & T Department from State/ Central Universities and academic Institutions with high repute requiring substantial funding (upper limit Rs.1000 lakh for 5 years) for acquiring state-of-the-art equipment and setting up laboratories for conducting internationally competitive research.

Limit of Funding ForSelf-financed post-graduate departments and Private Universities/ Academic Institutes including Colleges, support shall be consideredonly for research,having National Level Test (NET/GATE) qualified post-graduate students (more than 50 %)and such department would needto contribute 50 % of total recommended budget.

DST (SERC): Opportunities for Young Scientists (FAST TRACK Scheme)

Eligibility of Institute Academic Institutions , National labs and other recognized R&D institutions

Requirements Candidates should possess Masters degree in Engineering/Technology or a Ph.D. in Basic Science/Engineering.Open to young scientists who are below 35 years at the time of the Submission of application. Age relaxation of 5 years would be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Women and Physically Handicapped Category.

Duration of Project Three Years

Limit of Funding Maximum of Rs.10.00 lakhs period not exceeding three years includes Recurring costs (Fellowship wherever applicable, consumables,travel, and contingency) and minor equipment costing less than Rs.5.00 lakhs.

Science and Technology Application for Rural Development (STARD)

Eligibility of Institute Recognized R&D laboratories, universities and educational institutions.

Thrust Areas /type of proposalsEngineering Services: Design, development and up gradation of farm and non farm tools and machinery, cost effective energy appliances for value addition & income generation. Rural industries: R&D projects in the area of rural process industries. Establishment of Rural Technology Parks as technology resource centers for technology back-up/support system in both farm and non-farm sector, and Innovative project proposal related to above-mentioned areas for Technological Interventions in Mountain and hilly Eco-systems (TIME).

Eligibility of Institute Recognized R&D laboratories, universities and educational institutions

Areas Design, fabrication and improvement of tools implements, equipment and instrumentsused by women in different occupations in formal and non-formal sectors. Up-gradation of traditional skills for utilization of available resources and providing means for women to enter into the organized sector or for starting entrepreneurialproduction or service units.Manpower, consumables, travel, contingencies, equipments, overheads etc.

DST (SERC): Scheme for Young Scientists and Professionals (SYSP)

Eligibility of Institute Recognized R&D laboratories, Universities and Educational Institutions

Requirements The scheme is open to young scientists, upper age limit being 35 years (40 years for Women) and having a minimum qualification of graduation in Engineering.a) Attempt a field implementation of an idea which is already known or (b) Develop techniques for solving problems which do not have any suggested solutions at present.

DST (SERC): Human Resource Development and Nurturing Young Talent Swarnajayanti Fellowships Scheme

EligibilityThe applicant should possess Ph.D in Science/Engineering with outstanding contributions in his/her area of research.

Scheme The support will cover all the requirements for performing the research and will include a fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- per month for five years. The fellowship will be provided in addition to the salary they draw from their parent Institution. In addition to fellowship, grants for equipments, computational facilities, consumables, contingencies, national and international travel and other special requirements, if any, will be covered based on merit. Scientists selected for the award will be allowed to pursue unfettered research with a freedom and flexibility in terms of expenditure as approved in the research plan. The project should contain innovative research idea and it should have a potential of making impact on R&D in the discipline.

Duration of Project The duration of the fellowship will be for a period not exceeding five years.

Limit of Funding Fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- per month for five years.

The Ministry has been supporting Research, Design & Development (R D&D) in new and renewable energy since 1982.

Considering that the market would largely drive the renewable energy sector, a scheme has been evolved for associating and supporting R D&D carried out by industry.

This scheme provides guidelines for project identification, formulation appraisal, approval and financial support.

A Research, Design & Development Project Appraisal Committee (RDPAC) has been constituted under the chairmanship of Secretary, MNRE for the purpose of giving guidance to the overall direction of RD&D effort in new and renewable energy.

This Committee also elicits RD&D proposals, appraises them, and recommends financial support wherever required.
