• Sometimes it is the luck of the draw

• Need to match your proposed plan to the needs of the grant provider

• Your grant will be scored against a score-chart

• Sport England now online

Step by Step Guide

1. Assess the needs within the club; you need to know what you are applying for in the first place.

2. Identify the most suitable grant, a list of potential grant providers is listed in the RFL Funding Guide available at www.therfl.co.uk/community

3. Research the Grants website to find out what their objectives are.

4. Get the application form

Step by Step guide cont..5. Outline a basic project plan and costing model

6. Clearly identify how your proposed programme meets the needs of that particular grant

7. Seek guidance from local Rugby League Development Officer or local authority sports development unit (lots have specific funding officers)

8. Submit applications and if unsuccessful keep on trying and seek feedback as to why bid was unsuccessful.

9. Once successful deliver the outlined scheme in the plan accordingly.

10. Collect all publicity, necessary accounts; receipts etc. and once completed submit a final report back to the funding body to show how the grant has benefited your club.
