Characteristics:

• Eukaryotic cells• Unicellular or multicellular• Multicellular ones does not form tissues• Some are composed by a special type of cell called

hyphae.• Groups of hyphae form the mycelium

Hyphae Mycelium

Hyphae are the tubular cells with cellular wall.

Mycelium are formed by groups of hyphae packed together.

Groups

Mushrooms are formed by mycelium and live on decomposing remains of other living things.

Moulds are formed by hyphae and live on decomposing remains of other living things.

Yeast are unicellular. They are not formed by hyphae or mycelium.
