1. Women in STEM are rising –but there’s a crucial exception: Computer Science.
2. In AI, a vital subset of that field, the lack of women is even more pronounced.
3. The AI transformation is increasing the value of soft
skills, and women stand to gain.
4. Across our platform, we can see that men and women job search differently.
Things we can do to effect change
We need the same effort that transformed women’s access to higher education to focus on Computer Science
It’s possible to move from the life sciences into AI with some extra training – we need to make women aware of that possibility.
1. A Focus on ICT2. Move from STEM to AI
Value your own soft skills, work on developing them, and speak up for their value within your organization.
If you’re in the position to make hiring decisions, or to influence them, learn to be conscious of your own biases, and aware of others’.
3. Speak up for “Soft Skills” 4. Challenge biases
Don’t miss out because you don’t apply. Take that extra chance, apply for that job, and nurture and encourage that behavior in other women around you.
5. Push your own career boundaries
Thank you
