OVERVIEW

We are in the deepest and most sweeping transformation. Old management models are no longer responding to current and future problems. Canada is at the top of any positive rankings. Be it quality of life, economic stability, ethics, security, respect, diversity, innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, arts and countless other indicators, Canada is ahead.

What is so fascinating about this country?

Why are they always ahead of the world?

What can Canadians tell us about the future, which is so often present to them?

Why has Alphabet, a Google controlled company, chosen Toronto to design a high-tech neighborhood?

It was in this context that St. Lawrence College, one of Canada’s most renowned Educational Institutions, with the collaboration of Ornellas Consulting, Westin Development of People and Changes Consulting Canada, developed a program for Brazilian executives who want to discover what Canadian organizations can tell us about the future of organizations and management.

What is to expect from the Future of Work?

How will Artificial Intelligence affect us?

How can we take care of organizational excellence in such a volatile world?

What will be the leader of tomorrow?

What ways are Canadian companies bordering on these challenges?

A six-day immersion into the Canadian business and cultural world will help us answer these, and other questions. There will be various sessions that include interactive labs with teachers from various institutions, executives from companies with worldwide recognition, visits to local companies with successful cases, and cultural experiences that will mark the experience for the group while giving them a sense of Canadian Values. Differentiated activities will guarantee a valuable and enriching experience for all the participants.

FUTURE OF WORK

Our world is powered by stories - they’re the operating system and universal file format for the human experience. Most of our conversa-tions about the future involve quant forecasts and big picture trends, but in this workshop futurist and innovator Trevor Haldenby will show you a new way to experience the technologies, companies, and people of the future. Storytelling our way into the future might sound more like science fiction than strategic foresight, but some of the most interesting breakthroughs of the last 200 years actually started on the pages of science fiction novels, or on the movie screen. By taking a more creative approach to imagining and prototyping the futures we might experience, we can build the knowledge we’ll need in 2025 into our businesses today.

Trevor Haldenby is an imaginative futurist, entrepreneur, and time traveler who helps organizations build creative visions of their future. He is an Orchestration Director at Syntegrity, the platform company using systems science to help leaders of the Fortune 500 mobilize on complex chal-lenges and opportunities. Founder of The Mission Business, a boutique foresight and design consultancy; formerly Interactive Consultant at Canadian Film Centre (2004),

Habbo Hotel (2006), Earth Rangers (2008). Special presenter at TED, CBC, Autodesk University; escapee of more time travel paradoxes than he can count.

DATA ANALYTICS AND ARTIFICIAL

INTELLIGENCE

What is Artificial Intelligence all about and how will it impact the HR profession in the future? What will be the role of the HR professionals in the age of Machines and Artificial Intelligence? How do we prepare for a world “ruled” by Machines? Artificial Intelligence is quickly becom-ing ubiquitous even as more industries begin to look for opportunities to influence human capital, operational costs, company revenues and customer experience via AI. The availability of huge amount of data and tremendous computing power (at reasonable cost) have expedited the adoption of machine learning to build much more intelligent systems that can learn from data. Traditional approaches to Human Resource management is now being challenged and/or disrupted by AI applica-tions. We explore the history of Artificial Intelligence in this presentation and, “attempt” to paint a future where intelligent machines are more dominant across all sectors. The goal is to facilitate a discussion around what the HR profession will look like in a future that is “ruled by ma-chines”.

BEHAVIOUR OF WORK OF ORGANIZATION

EXCELLENCE

Human behaviour is actually quite simple to understand. Once you know how and why people engage in the behaviours they do, you can use that knowledge to build better environments and workplaces. Organizational behaviour management (OBM) applies the principles of behaviour analysis to individuals and groups in business, industry, government and human service settings. OBM is rooted in applied behavior analysis (ABA) which is a field that seeks to improve the lives of others by increasing socially significant behaviours and reducing behaviours that interfere with an individual’s performance. OBM focus-es on the implementation of practical strategies that can be used to positively and effectively change workplace cultures and build positive individual and group behaviour. This workshop provides an introduction to the field of organizational behaviour management and will provide an overview of strategies, tools and applications of OBM theory that can be used to isolate, analyze and modify the environmental events that effect human per-formance, productivity, job satisfaction, and engagement. Participants will learn about OBM strategies that can help build better organiza-tional structures and lead to significantly improved outcomes.

Kim Trudeau-Craig is a Board Cer-tified Behavior Analyst and a Regis-tered Psychotherapist. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Psychol-ogy with a concentration in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Kaplan University and a Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Queen’s University. Kim Trudeau-Craig is a currently a full time professor and Program Co-or-dinator for the Behavioural Science Program at St. Lawrence College and has been teaching at the post-sec-
