About Us

For over 30 years Futurist has been synonymous with providing a turnkey service to professional theatres, schools and the amateur dramatic sector. Following a change of ownership in 2006 a significant investment in new technology and personnel has enabled us to offer a comprehensive selection of lighting, sound and audio-visual equipment for rental as well as production support for events, concerts, band tours and theatrical shows.

Along with our extensive hire inventory we also offer a comprehensive sales and installation service. With a range of sales items from most of the leading manufacturers of lighting, sound, audio-visual, staging and rigging equipment. Our installation team has many years

experience in providing lighting, sound and audio-visual solutions.

Our production team are able to offer help and advice on all aspects of your production, from initial concepts, through to planning the smallest detail. The team are complimented by a carefully selected group of freelance personnel who have extensive experience and qualifications in their chosen field.

This hire brochure contains all our hire stock at the time of going to print, but please visit our web site for the latest updates to our hire inventory.

How to bookTo place an order please have the following available to hand:

Your Details Name, Address (including Post Code), Telephone Number and Contact Name Hire Period Date and Time of collection and return or Date and Time of delivery and collection if items are being delivered by us

Equipment The details of the equipment that you wish to hire

Payment/Invoicing New Clients – Cash, Cheque or Debit/Credit card (2.5% Surcharge for Credit Cards) before collection, along with proof of identity. (Passport or Driving License & recent utility bill) Account Holders – Invoices will be sent to your invoicing address with a Purchase Order Reference (Please supply a Purchase Order in advance of collection or verbal confirmation).

Other Details Delivery – Please see below. PAT Test Certificates – These can be provided at a cost of 50p per certificate. Please notify us on booking if this is required.

We prefer all orders to be placed via email, please email [email protected] to place an order, providing the above information.

DeliveryWe can provide delivery nationwide from our Leeds location. Please contact the office for pricing.

Collection Your equipment will be ready to collect on the morning of your order. We are open from 9.00am until 5.00pm, Monday to Fridays. We are open Saturday and Sunday by arrangement only.

LIGHTING

Terms & ConditionsFor the purposes of these conditions, ‘The Company’ shall be deemed to refer to ‘Futurist Sound & Light Ltd’ and ‘Customer’ to any company, partnership or individual who shall enter into any hire agreement with ‘Futurist Sound & Light Ltd’, which under the terms of English Law might be defined as a contract. All equipment hired remains the property of the Company. Hire charges are based on the period of the contract, irrespective of whether or not the equipment is in use. Hire commences upon receipt by the Customer and ceases upon return to the Company. Equipment is not regarded as returned to the Company until it is checked and inspected by an authorised member of the Company’s staff and a formal receipt issued on behalf of the Company. Equipment hired will be entirely at the Customer’s risk during the hire period and the Customer will be responsible for any loss or damage thereto, howsoever arising. The Customer undertakes responsibility for insuring equipment against ‘all risks’ to full replacement value. Any loss or damage to the equipment is to be reimbursed to the Company by the Customer to the full replacement value thereof. The Customer will be responsible for ensuring that any relevant regulations or statutory provision governing, or relating to, the use of the hired equipment are complied with during the period of the hire and the Company in no way assumes liability for the consequences of any non-compliance with any such regulations, rules or statutory provisions. Equipment will be supplied to the Customer in normal working order, the Company’s liability for any defect or failure of the equipment hired is limited to the rectification of any defect or failure arising from normal usage. The Customer undertakes to ensure that the Company’s equipment shall not be used for any purpose beyond its capacity or any manner likely to result in undue deterioration of the equipment. The Company cannot be held responsible for any injuries to personnel or damage to the property consequential to, and arising from, any improper use of the equipment by the Customer or by any other person, whether or not authorised by the Customer, during the period of hire. Where the Customer has erected equipment or modified a structure supplied by the Company, the Company will not be responsible for injuries to personnel or damage to property consequential to, or arising from, this structure. Equipment hired must not be altered by the customer or modified in any way. In particular, cables must not be cut and plugs and sockets must not be rewired by the customer. Any equipment found to have been modified or in any way altered, and any cables or components found to have been damaged by cutting, or attempts at modification, will be charged at replacement price upon return. Any damage to, or failure of, or defect in any hire equipment must be notified to the Company within 24 hours of its occurrence, and confirmed in writing within three days of initial notification. In the absence of such notification the customer will be charged with the cost of repair or replacement. The customer will be responsible for advising the Company as to the location of the hired equipment during the period of hire, and of any changes in such location. No equipment hired from the Company may be taken outside the mainland of Great Britain, either for any offshore island or to any foreign country without the written consent of the Company. It is an express condition of the hire that the Customer shall not offer for hire to any third party or parties any equipment which is the property of the Company, without the written consent of the Company. If the agreed hire charges are not paid on the due date then the Company will reserve the right to repossess the hired items and will not be liable for any damage or loss which may be suffered by the Customer as a consequence of such repossession. In the event of the equipment ordered not being available, through circumstances beyond the control of the Company, the Company reserves the right to substitute equipment of similar quality for all or part of the hire. No information or data contained in any of the Company’s catalogues or price lists shall be deemed to constitute any part of a contract of hire, such information being the purpose of general description only. Before issuing any equipment for hire, the Company may require a deposit from the customer which may be any sum up to the full replacement cost of the equipment hired. Similarly the Company may, at its discretion, require payment of the full hire charge in advance. All prices EX VAT. We have the right to cancel any hire at any time.
