Dear Directors and HCC’s:

It is my pleasure to take the time and introduce you to Molli Keller. She is currently a sophomore at the University of Evansville. She is majoring in Communication and wishes to become a missionary with the North Ameri-ca Mission Board or the International Mission Board and eventually work in Romania.

As a freshman, Molli was involved in the University’s campus as well as the community of Vanderburgh County. Her freshman year proved to be a learning experience about what she wanted to do with her future. She started her first year of college as a premed student and discovered that her passions followed closely with those of the professionals working in our Residence Life.

Molli got involved with the Morton and Brentano Hall Council and volun-teered to be an RSA representative for her hall. She came to every Hall Council and RSA meeting with a positive attitude and a willingness to help with any event she could. She also ran for a position on the Freshmen Council and was elected as the Advertising Chair.

As part of the RSA General Assembly, Molli worked as part of the Reten-tion and Recruitment committee and applied (and was accepted) to go to GLACURH 2010, IRHOC 2011, and NACURH 2011. She learned a lot and brought back a program she went to and helped her own hall, Morton and Brentano, launch it in the Spring Semester.

As a freshman, Molli Keller was a very dedicated and hard worker. I was very happy to have had the chance to work with and to continue to work with her today. I hope everyone who reads this bid sees how deserving she is of this award. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider her for this opportunity.

Here is a little bit about Molli Keller:

Hometown: Evansville, Indiana

Major: Communication: Public Relations Advertising, Organizational Communication

Hobbies: Crafts, Scrapbooking, Singing, Bak-ing, Reading

Status: Sophomore at the University of Ev-ansville

Fun Facts: She has spent the past two summers in Ar-

lington Texas as a summer missionary at Mission Arling-

ton through the North American Mission Board. While

she served there she led summer programs and Bible

studies for children of all ages as well as lead Rainbow

Express for kids at Tent Revivals. When they weren’t

out working with the kids they were working around

the mission in their various departments. She also flew

herself to Mission Arlington Christmas of 2010 to work

in the toy store, where parents who can’t afford pre-

sents can come in, hear the story of the birth of Jesus,

and then pick out gifts for their children.

Family: She has a very close nit and supporting family. Her mommy, Maria, is a Floral

Manager/Designer and her daddy, Chad, works for Schnucks. She has an eleven year

sister named Macci who is devoted to basketball, soccer, and jump roping, as well as

a seventeen year old brother who is a very talented musician and plays bass guitar for

the Scandalmongers. Her Granny, Jane, is a University of Evansville Alumni and works

for the University of Southern Indiana. Her Aunt Caroline, or Cats as they call her, is

her movie partner and acts like an older sister figure to her. The most influential per-

son in her life is her Granna. She is the one who started bringing her to church and

has really shaped her into the person she is today. She is a huge family person and

can’t wait to have a family of her own someday!

Most Memorable First Year Experience: Her

most memorable First Year Experience would

definitely have to be her very first Conference,

GLACURH. She had no idea what she was getting

herself into when I filled out the application and

got accepted, but it turned out to be the best

thing she could ever do! She was in love with

conferences from that point on and so she ap-

plied and got accepted to go to IRHOC and

NACURH as well. Her bond with our Resident

Students Association would never be as strong as

it is now if she had never attended that first

GLACURH.

Hall Council

When Morton and Brentano had their first Hall Council

meeting, Molli was in attendance. She wanted to get the full experience

of college and make a difference. When the executives asked for some-

one to step up and be the RSA representative, Molli volunteered. She

went above and beyond as a representative, updating them on all the

campus activities available to residents as well as general information

about minutes and budget. She also worked with other members of

Hall Council to plan and execute Hall Programs such as a Veterans Day

speaker, Pursuit in the Pit, and Pet Brick painting. Molli took every op-

portunity to get more involved with her hall as much as she could.

When her Hall decided to have a floor hockey team in the intramurals,

Molli was one of the first few girls to sign up for it. With dedication like

this, people could just tell that Molli Keller was a person that could

make a difference on campus.

Freshmen Council

Molli also ran for a position on the Freshmen Council and was

elected as the Advertising Chair. For this position, she created flyers,

posters, emails and other advertising pieces to promote freshmen cam-

pus events to students. She also collaborated with council to organize

fun and educational activities to engage freshmen. Their events were

successful and included: Coco and Cram Study Session during finals,

Various Raffles with excellent prizes at soccer and basketball games,

and free T-shirts for freshmen.

Being a part of the RSA General Assembly, Molli became even more

involved by participating in preparing for campus-wide events and

being on the Retention and Recruitment committee. Molli also went

to GLACURH 2010, IRHOC 2011, and NACURH 2011. For NACURH, she

wrote the program "The Reflection Project" and it was accepted to be

presented. Twenty people attended her presentation and were able

to take information about her program back to their campuses to use.

"The Reflection Project" is a program that was written to boost self-

esteem in residents on campus in order to create a more positive

campus environment.

Campus Involvement

Besides her involvement in Hall Council and RSA, Molli also helped the

Mortano Resident Assistant Staff to plan and execute a successful "I Love my Body

Week" for the Morton/Brentano Spring Define your Life Program using information

that she brought back to campus from GLACURH 2010.

Community Involvement

Molli was also very involved within the Evansville community. Within her

church, Molli was a Bible Study Teacher, Children’s’ Choir Leader, 5th year as Music

Leader for their Vacation Bible School. Molli was also the Harrison High School War-

rior Command Marching Band as an instructor for the 2010 Marching season. She

helped with woodwinds, but my main focus was on preparing and coming up with a

conducting routine for the Drum Major.

Molli is also very passionate about working with young children. She volun-

teered with The Dream Center every Thursday from 3pm-6pm. While volunteering,

she tutored up to 15 elementary students each week assisting with homework and

skill building in all subject areas. I also mentored youth and built relationships dur-

ing after school program designed to provide safe environment and activities.

A note from Molli:

“After graduating from the University of Evansville, I would like to work in

Student Affairs for a while as a Residential Coordinator. Being involved in our

Resident Students Association as well as being a Resident Assistant had really

given me a passion to be there as a support for college students. I also love

the planning aspects of Residence Life and appreciate everything they do for

resident students.

Eventually I would like to use my Public Relations/Advertising

knowledge to work for a mission organization such as the International Mis-

sion Board (IMB), the North American Mission Board (NAMB), or Student Life.

I don’t exactly know what I would like to do within these organizations, but as

long as I am where God wants me I know I will be happy.

My dream is to end up in Romania as an international missionary to

the gypsies. I have felt called in the past couple of years to serve in Romania

and I truly believe that is where I am supposed to spend the rest of my life.

Many people tell me that it is a horrible place to try to be a missionary, but I

am not afraid because I know that God will be watching over me and every-

thing that I am going to do will be for His glory.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love

him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28”

Dear HCCs:

Responsibility, dedication, and passionate are the first

three words that come to mind when I think of Molli Keller.

As an RSA rep., she was passionate about her Hall Council

and RSA. She participated and spent extra hours helping when she

could. I knew that she would go on to do amazing things within

the organization.

Molli is everything a first year resident should be. I couldn’t

think of a more deserving recipient for this award. When RSA was

first brainstorming of people to nominate for awards at IRHOC,

Molli was the first name that came to my mind for FYE. She has

done our school proud.

As an NCC/HCC, I was always looking for a delegate who

was enthusiastic and willing to put forth the work that a confer-

ence demands. She did just that and more. As a first time dele-

gate, she submitted programs. She was appointed the delegation

leader and worked with the other delegates when I was in busi-

ness. I knew that I could count on Molli to do the job right.

I hope that you see in her what the RSA executive board

and all of Residence Life sees in her: a dedicated resident willing to

do anything for her hall community.

To Members of IRHOC,

I am pleased to write a letter of support for Molli Keller as a nominee of the IRHO First Year Experience Award. I have known Molli since she started as Morton and Brentano Hall’s Resident Student Association Representative a year and a half age. During this time, I have been able to see Molli grow as a leader, join the Resident Students As-sociation Executive Board, and become a Resident Assistant. She has been a very reliable and productive member of these groups. Her freshman year was one that embodies many of the qualities that a first year experience should display.

During Molli’s first year at the University of Evansville she was part of many organizations. She first joined Fresh-men Council, a group that host programs solely for first year students, became the groups Advertising Chair where she created flyers, posters, informative e-mails and other advertising pieces. In this position she also collaborated with her hall council to organize fun and educational activities. Their events were successful and included: Coco and Cram Study Session during finals, various raffles with excellent prizes at soccer and basketball games, and free shirts for the freshmen class in the fall of 2010.

Molli also joined the Morton and Brentano Hall Council, and became the RSA Representative. Like all representa-tives she was a liaison between RSA and her hall council. She went above and beyond to keep both groups updated on all the campus activities available to residents as well as general information about minutes and budget. She even started to help the hall council Vice President plan and execute hall programs such as a Veterans Day speaker.

Through her involvement in RSA, Molli heard about conferences from the groups NCC. She applies and became an asset to the delegation that attended GLACURH 2010, IRHOC 2011, NACURH 2011 as an outgoing delegate always willing to try new things and talk to different people. Later in spring 2011 Molli campaigned and secured the RSA Vice President position.

Molli also was an advocate for volunteering. She donated her time at her church as both the Children’s Choir Lead-er and as the Vacation Bible School Music Leader. She also flew to Arlington, Texas to work at Mission Arlington for a week before Christmas. While there she led Bible studies, mentored children, and helped with preparation and distribution of free items given through the Mission Arlington Christmas Store to help out less fortunate families.

I give Molli Keller my highest recommendation. Her first year the University of Evansville serves as an example to other students, and her career at UE continues to be beneficial for her, her residents, and her fellow organization members. Molli embodies what this award is about.
