Course DescriptionUpdates in Cross Sectional Imaging has been designed to provide updates in the various subspecialties of radiology emphasizing MR, CT, PET and US. Several of the subspecialty sections are structured with a mini-theme (e.g. Head and Neck for neuroradiology and Hip/Ankle for musculoskeletal radiology) to provide a more in-depth review of cur-rent hot topics and techniques which will appeal to both the general radiologist and the subspecialist. A combination of traditional lec-tures and case-based reviews including use of the audience response system (ARS) will be used to keep the attendee engaged in the discus-sion and the opportunity to practice/sharpen their skills throughout the conference.

Course goals and objectives• Identify key anatomic structures of the larynx.• Recognize common and uncommon types of laryngeal pathology.• Correctly characterize recurrent/residual disease versus normal post-

treatment changes in the neck.• Review current applications for MR imaging of the neck in oncology.• Be able to identify, generate an expert differential diagnosis for common

and uncommon pathology in the pediatric brain, head and neck.• Be able to identify and generate an expert differential for common

pathology of the orbits and visual pathways.• Be able to recognize and characterize common pathology at the

skull base.• Review key anatomic/pathologic findings on MRI of the hip including

assessment of the labrum and findings of impingement.• Review key pathologic findings on MRI for complications following hip

arthroplasty, including protocol adjustments to deal with metal artifact.• Review key anatomic/pathologic findings on MRI of the ankle and hind

foot.• Be able to recognize and discuss common metabolic disorders of the

musculoskeletal system.• Review updated AIUM imaging requirements for the level 1 obstetrical

fetal sonogram.• Discuss relevant use and review key pathologic findings for ultrasound

in obstetrical emergencies.• Discuss current criteria and recommendations for nonviable pregnancy

and abnormal postmenopausal endometrium.• Discuss technique and review key anatomic/pathologic findings for MR

of pediatric appendicitis.• Review current concepts in advanced imaging for hepatocellular

carcinoma including workup, LI-RADS, treatment, and follow-up.• Discuss technique and review key anatomic/pathologic findings for

MR enterography.• Review PET/CT technique, current applications, and pitfalls in

diagnosis.• Review current applications for SPECT/CT.• Review current PET/CT concepts in assessing response to treatment.• Discuss current applications of CT for aortic stent/valve planning.• Discuss patterns of ischemic/nonischemic cardiomyopathy on MR,

updates on current application of calcium scoring, and review common coronary anomalies.

• Review current concepts in high resolution lung CT and briefly review disorders of airways.

• Brief overview of new LungRADS reporting system.
