Dear colleagues and friends, we cordially invite you to the preclinical work-shop “Gynecologic Oncology” at the Charité hospital in Berlin, Germany which takes place September 16th the day prior to the 27th In-ternational Papillomavirus Conference. In this workshop we will cover all aspects of gyneco-logic oncology including life surgery. We want to present state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapy for treating women with cervical, vul-var, endometrial, and ovarian cancer. We have invited international and national experts to get you updated on the latest developments in the field. With our program we want to attract clinical gynecologic oncologists to come to Berlin and to extend their stay for the Papillo-mavirus Conference. Our program and modest fee are focused on young colleagues, fellows, residents, and students who plan to engage in gynecologic oncology in their future career.We also want to show you one of the most fascinating cities of Europe and hope to see you in Berlin.

Achim SchneiderChristhardt Köhler

Surgeons and Speakers

Achim Schneider, M.P.H. (Berlin, Germany)

Achim Schneider, MD, MPH studied medicine in Würzburg and Ulm, Germany. His subspecialization is in surgical Gynecology, Obstetrics, Perinatal Medicine and Gynecologic Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine. He also received a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, U.S.A. He was Director at the Clinic for Gynecology in Jena and in 2004 was appointed Director of the clinics for Gynecology at Charité Mitte and Benjamin Franklin. His scientific interest is in cervical cancer ethiology, human papillomavirus research, and laparoscopic surgical methods.

Christhardt Köhler (Berlin, Germany)

Christhardt Köhler, MD studied medicine at University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany and received his subspecialisation for Gynecology at the University Jena. In 2004 he went to Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin where he is full Professor for Gyneco-logy. Scientifically he is interested in gynecologic oncology with emphasis on minimal invasive surgical techniques for cervical cancer and endometriosis.

Marcello Deraco (Milano, Italy)

Marcello Deraco, MD graduated 1987 in medicine, post graduated 1992 in general surgery and in 1993 in oncology. As expert on Cytoreductive Surgery (Peritonectomy) and Hyperthermic Intra Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) he is actually responsible for the Peritoneal Surface Malignancies Unit, Dept. of Surgery at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milano, Italy. He is also Coordinator of the Peritoneal Malignancy Scientific Group within the Italian Society for Locoregional Treatment in Oncology (SITILO) and a member of the Executive Committee of Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI)

Sean C. Dowdy (Rochester, MN, USA)

Sean C. Dowdy graduated from Georgetown University, Washing-ton, D.C. After his Residency and a Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, he now holds a position as Associate Professor of Obstetrics-Gynecology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. His current research interests inclu-de epigenetic aberrations in endometrial cancer, laparoscopic gynecologic oncology, and quality outcomes research in surgery.

Ate G.J. van der Zee (Groningen, The Netherlands)

Ate van der Zee, MD is head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University Groningen, The Netherlands. He also serves as President of the European Society of Gynaecolo-gical Oncology (ESGO), Consultant of the Integral Cancer Centre North East Netherlands, and member of the board of convention UMCG.

Simone Marnitz-Schulze (Berlin, Germany)

Simone Marnitz-Schulze, MD became vice head of the Depart-ment of Radiooncology of Charité University Campus Mitte and Virchow Clinics in 2006. There she became full professor in2009.
