Digital Technology

Definition:The term Digital Technologies is used to describe the use of digital resources to effectively find, analyse, create, communicate, and use information in a digital context.

Digital technology in relation to my AS Coursework:

Used the Cannon 550D camera specifically for my magazine photo shoot. As a result my images were of a high quality and therefore looked more professional.

Used Photoshop to enhance the overall quality of my photos. For example, in order to ensure that model look appropriate I used Photoshop to airbrush my model and remove any imperfections.

Creativity

Definition:

The use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.

Creativity in relation to my coursework:

Instead of typically using programs like word and power point to present my work, I opted to use other technologies such as prezi and YouTube to demonstrate my ideas properly .

Challenging typical conventions by having a female model on the front cover of my magazine rather than having a rock band.

Research and Planning

Definitions:

Research is the systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusion. Planning refers to the process of making plans for something.

Research in relation to my coursework:

Researched existing rock magazines to provide me with a starting platform as to what I need to include in my own magazine in order to demonstrate its genre clearly. For example, from the similar product research I was able to decide on my colour that should be conventional to my genre .

Conventions

Definition:

A way in which something is usually done.

Conventions in relation to coursework:

the front cover of my magazine conforms to the typical forms and conventions of a music magazine front cover. For example, this is demonstrated through the use of a masthead, sell lines, bar code and price tag which have all been positioned the same way they would be on real music magazines.

In terms of the main image, I have used a long shot of my model. Through my research I have concluded that these type of images are conventional to a rock magazine as it highlights not only the artists facial expressions but the body posture and hand gestures therefore I have also incorporated this theme onto my magazine.
