Eurocamp Independent customers should go straight to the campsite reception on arrival. • Swimming pool: This aquatic theme park has something for everyone; a wave pool, children’s lagoon, an indoor heated pool with a retractable glass roof, spa Jacuzzis and two paddling pools, one of which is heated. There are also two large waterslides open from mid June and limited to children over 10 yrs (this rule is strictly adhered to). There is also a smaller slide for children under 10. Bracelets are compulsory and are provided free of charge. Opening times are 10am to 6pm in low season and until 8pm in high season. French regulations now stipulate that traditional swimming trunks, not shorts, must be worn in the pool. Please note that shoes should not be worn in the pool area.

• Washblocks: There are 12 sanitary blocks on the campsite with clearly separated sections for Ladies and Gentlemen. Please note that most campsites do not provide toilet paper and some campsite sanitary blocks do not have toilet seats.

• Barbecues: Barbecues are not allowed on your pitch however there is a communal barbecue area.

• Internet access: Internet access is available in reception; WiFi access is available throughout the campsite.

• Gas bottles: These cannot be exchanged on site.• Motorhome service point: There is a motohome service point on site.• Fridge hire: the site has banks of fridge compartments in three areas of the

campsite, which can be hired for approximately €4 per day. It is not possible to pre-reserve this; you must ask at reception when you arrive.

• Electricity: There will be an 8 amp either 2 pin (a continental 2 pin adapter will be required) or standard 3 pin European electricity connection available within 20m of your pitch.

• Dogs: A maximum of 1 dog is allowed on your pitch as long as it is kept on a lead. If you require any up-to-date information on taking your dog abroad, please get in touch. We’d be happy to book any necessary vets appointments on your behalf.

Please be aware that in the early and late season, the complete range of activities may not be available. Any opening times are for guidance only, as these may vary and are subject to change by the campsite owner. Please check at reception on arrival.

Located in the heart of a large pine forest and with direct access to a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach, this large and lively campsite has plenty of entertainment and on site activities for all ages, making it a superb choice for a family holiday.

We have picked out a few things to do on site that may be of interest to you. For a full list of campsite activities, please refer to our brochure or website.

The campsite offers a grill restaurant with modern décor and outdoor terrace, providing a selection of tasty meals including children’s menus and local dishes. There are also take-away facilities provided by the site Snack Bar and Pizzeria. There is also a Crêperie situated behind the bar which has an outdoor terrace. These facilities are generally open from April through to September.

There is a supermarket on site which sells basic provisions including milk, bread, newspapers, alcohol, baby products etc. which opens daily in high season but has reduced opening hours during low season. There are also various other boutiques and souvenir shops on site where you can buy postcards and gifts. A cash point and currency exchange facility is available at reception.

During the dayThe “Espace bien-être”, well-being centre, offers spa and beauty treatmentsincluding a Hammam, sauna and whirlpool, essential massages, manicures andpedicures etc.Cycle hire is available for adults and children, including helmets, child seats and trailer bikes.The games room with pinball, billiards and a great outdoor play area withswings, roundabout, climbing frames, slide, see-saw and a sand pit. 5 table tennis tables and 3 tennis courts are available to hire with rackets and balls available from reception (payable). Other activities include horse & pony riding, volleyball, football, basketball andboules.Site run children’s club in high season for 4-12 year olds with plenty of fun activities, sports and games. Languages spoken are French and English. There are also organised activities and sporting competitions for adults for example, the popular campsite boules tournament.

During the eveningIn July and August there are regular themed evenings including weekly barbecues, live magic shows, Karaoke competitions, live music and family discos.

Oceafaunia Labenne – 26.5kmSet in beautiful woodland, this animal park in Labenne is home to a number of animals including kangaroos, wild cats, deer, exotic birds and more. A set walk will take visitors through the park and allow them to see the animals living and playing in their own habitats. Bayonne - 50.8 kmBayonne, the capital of the region is a busy commercial town with a history dating back to the Romans in 3AD. Whilst here visit the 14th century gothic Cathedral Sainte-Marie, the twelfth century Château-Vieux and take a walk around the fortified ramparts. Guided tours are available. A short drive away is the popular town of Bayonne famous for its narrow streets lined with half timbered houses painted in the Basque colours. As capital of the Basque country, this lovely town offers great shopping and good restaurants. On the coast surfing enthusiasts can enjoy the Atlantic breakers while the huge lakes of Soustons and Léon are only a few miles inland.

CognacThe world’s most renowned eau-de-vie was described as the “brandy of the gods” by Victor Hugo. Pineau de Charentes, a fortified mixture of cognac and grape juice makes a lovely digestif.Foie GrasA specialty in south-west France, this dish is a delicacy that originated in ancient Egypt as early as 2500 BC. It has now become part of the cultural and gastronomic heritage of France. Its flavour is described to be rich, buttery and delicate and is often served as an accompaniment to steak.Regional winesWhether it is an elegant red Médoc or a crisp and fresh Bordeaux Sauvignon, this region has a variety of fine wines on offer.

The dramatic Atlantic coastline is made up of mostly sandy beaches with the Atlantic surf making it a haven for water sports enthusiasts. The World Surfing championships are held each year in nearby Hossegor.Site beach - reached on foot along asphalt paths. A ‘Petit’ train runs in high season from the site to the beach, there is a small charge. The beach is generally sandy and clean but there can be debris in low season. Surf boards are available for hire, and there a place to buy snacks and ice creams. Please beware the sea can be rough with strong undercurrents, and swimming is recommended only when the lifeguards are on duty (from mid-June).Messanges – 0.5km ‘Plage Sud’ is a spacious sandy beach.Hossegor 18km - a fantastic surfing beach, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and a lively nightlife.Moliets 6km – a popular spacious sandy beach with shops, cafés and small pools which are ideal for paddling. A lifeguard is on duty.Capbreton 21km - the largest Marina on the Landes coast. The central beach is a typical seaside resort with bars and hotels on the sea-front. This stretch of coast extends 7km south and is lined with pine forests and private and secluded sand dunes.Vieux-Boucau 1.5km - has a natural sea fed saltwater lake with its own beaches and Island and tends to be safer for children than the main coastal beaches. There are bars, cafes, restaurants. The Place de Mairie (square outside the Town Hall) has live music concerts in the evenings from June to early September.Léon 15km - the lake is very shallow and safe for children.Please note that certain beaches along the Landes coast welcome naturists.

• Hypermarket – 8km ‘E Leclerc’ at Soustons.• Vieux-Boucau - 1.5km There are a selection of small shops including a post

office, a ‘tabac’, two banks, a chemist and a petrol station. English newspapers are available from the ‘Masion de la Presse’

Local market days (usually mornings only) are as follows:Vieux Boucau - Arts and crafts market through July and August daily (except Sundays and holidays) at Place de la Mairie, there is also a daily market throughout the season at Parking des Arènes where you can find local produce, flowers, fruits and vegetables.Capbreton - Daily general market and local produce in high season, fish market when the boats arrive on the quay.Dax - 1st Thursday of the month there is an all day antiques market at Place Camille Bouvet, the Place also hosts a food market every Saturday where you will find local cheeses, poultry, fruit and vegetables.

Location Le Vieux Port is situated between the coast and the D652 between Vieux Boucau and Messanges. Vieux Boucau town is located on the coast approximately 32km (20 miles) west of Dax.

Directions From Bordeaux: Follow the motorway around the east side of the city and take the A63 in the direction of ‘Arcachon/Bayonne/San Sebastian’. Follow the A63/N10 as far as the ‘Magescq/Soustens/Vieux Boucau’ exit (junction 11). In the village of Magescq straight over at the traffic lights onto the D16 signposted to ‘Azur’ and ‘Messanges’. About 0.5 mile from here turn left onto the D150 still following signs for ‘Azur’ and ‘Messanges’. You will see a sign for Camping Vieux Port here. Follow this road for about 4.5miles. Turn right at the T-junction and into the village of Azur (the campsite is sign-posted from here). Follow the road through the village, going straight over the two mini-roundabouts and passing a church on your left. Follow the signs to ‘Camping Le Vieux Port’. After a further 4.5 miles (before Messanges) turn left and follow this windy road for about 1 mile. You will drive past Camping Lou Pignade before reaching a T-junction. Turn left at the T-junction. At the roundabout (opposite a Super U supermarket) take the first right exit and the entrance to Camping Le Vieux Port is approx 500 yards along this road.

Car breakdown - Please note that in the event of breakdown all customers insured through Eurocamp Independent should consult their Insurance Terms and Conditions booklet. Couriers on site will have information of local garages.Due to recent European legislation it is now a requirement when driving in Europe that all cars need to carry a reflective jacket at all times. These reflective jackets can be purchased almost everywhere in Europe for approx 8 to 15 Euros each.Personal Injury The chances of you and your family either having an accident or becoming the victims of crime whilst on holiday are extremely low. However, you should encourage the members of your party to take the same sensible precautions that they would do at home. Try to avoid walking alone at night, and keep to well-lit main roads where possible. You should try to avoid short cuts like alleyways, waste ground and wooded, bushy areas.Stay alert: be aware of what’s going on around you.It is always worth letting someone know where you are going, the route you intend to take and when you expect to return.We want you to have a safe holiday - please read campsite notices carefully and ensure all members of your party understand the rules and regulations as they are there for your own safety.

New Law re Breathalysers in France

Please be aware there is a new law coming in to force from 1st July 2012 that makes it COMPULSORY for all motorists in FRANCE to carry a single use breathalyser. We advise that if you are travelling to (or through) France you should carry at least two disposable breathalysers in order to comply with this new law. The breathalysers you purchase must comply to French regulations and will carry the ‘French certification mark’ ‘NF’. These should be purchased prior to departure in the UK but can also be purchased on the ferry, in most French supermarkets, service/petrol stations or chemists. You could receive an on-the-spot fine if you cannot produce this product when asked.
